New Dawn Awaiting

- 4 ½ months for what could be the quintessential dawn of reckoning. One can only hope for votes that will impact the electoral college with compassion. (Image by pinterest)

Poem Artwork

New Dawn Awaiting

Warmth must have a reason for concealing

Its unexpected revelations for us

The reason must be struggling

Hard as it is to

Balance warmth and cold

Compassion

And malice

We know that fear is the nemesis here

Some acquiescing

Others embracing courage to remain human

And the reason opposites haven’t been introduced

Though such breathe the same air

Hear the same sounds

Taste of the same diet

Is that they differ in belief

Conviction

Tenacity

Yes…

Our leanings collide with each other often

Wondering what has created this confrontation

We suspend our belief

Speechless and embarrassed

Even as we pretend to be distracted

By a leaf cascading earthward

A pigeon searching for crumbs

A dog debating whether to lift a hind leg

Or straighten its tail in focused understanding

That the hearse overflowing with stinkweed

Awaiting its purpose

Of escorted finality at a white house in peril

Is the destiny of a self-destructive prey

Such is a new dawn awaiting

Hopefully to rise

Hopefully says it all. I didn't think people would be stupid enough to put trump in office to begin with, and I'm not sure they've learned anything or have gotten any smarter. Hopefully they have, but if not....we're doomed.

Let's just pretend that it is all going to come out all right. A new dawn come November and a great new beginning, otherwise, goodbye to all that.
