Courage Weeping

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

Many a book has been written about the downside of aloneness. There is, however, an upside.

Poem Artwork

Courage Weeping

How subtle the dew of a morning sunrise

How precious the sob of a newborn gasping for life

How alone are the many aged

Of unchosen isolated life

The weeping of which

Leaves many a pillow drenched in sorrow

But what of the weeping

Of integrity in front of an onslaught of weaponry

The holdfast of principal and ethical commitment

Where lances of aggression thrust

An often viable sharp-edged weapon

One that tries to penetrate the inner being

The soul of life as it’s exhaustive efforts to be truthful

Fall prey to the ruthless predators of emptiness

And yet…

Some embrace the solitary living

Where self-reliance

And

Self-respect

Find courage

Merely knowing

Their physical health and mind

Are being fortified by trust in fate

And the preordained belief

All life has a purpose

And this individual is still alive

Such a breath of fresh air

To find solace in total independence

Granting enough courage

To surely make one weep with joy

True, true, so true. Many (most?) people dislike being alone. I actually prefer to be alone, perhaps it is the writer in me. You state it so well, "such a breath of fresh air, to find solace in total independence." My sentiments exactly.

Yes "All life has a purpose" a respect for ourself and others. Very nice work.

"All life has a purpose"
I love this line! An inspirational message, to be sure. Though, I will never be truly independent since I rely on others for so much in this world, my sense of integrity and personal convictions I own. Sometimes that makes me weep tears of grief, but at other times, tears of relief and joy. Thanks for sharing, Odin. Blessings.
