There is solace in questioning whether corporeal death is truly the end. (Image by Odin AI)

 Discovery’s Everlasting Gift

Understanding and knowing truth

Should be enjoyable.

Is there truth in…

Our lungs receive oxygen as a whisper of life,

Sunlight makes itself known often

By dancing on leaves.

Can rain be known as gentle kisses made real upon the earth?

Who would doubt the potential reality

Of flowers blooming a symphony of colors?

From the first cry of a newborn,

Emotion finds purchase in life,

Moving through time

Said truth can become wisdom

As etched in wrinkles

Like a tapestry of moments learned

Adding to the threads of this life fully lived.

Might all living forms exiting life

Inherently accept the inevitable realm of completion,

The cessation of a singular time period

Having prepared existence for the next iteration?

Such is the continuation of experience,

Threads in progress,

An unfinished weave ready to address

Another period of resolving the enigmatic,

Reminding us all

That what is known

Cannot be unknown.

From Darwin until the discovery of DNA, science has learned, against the constant rebuke by political power and religious obsession, wanting to maintain the status quo, that everything feeds on everything else. Perfect recycling.

It is a selfish, unscientific thought, that the human superior soul lives on beyond as though our superiority over all other life gives us somehow this strange ability.

The simple fact is… all of our molecules and atoms, right down to our squiggly quarks, and the only thing remaining of us is our legacy, consisting of a reputation that people remember or even an obscure written passage that somehow rides around in the Internet until it is found.

I can envision colorful beaches of the future consisting of sand-sized bits of plastic that draw tourists from near and far.
