Love’s Forgiveness
Hate often erupts like a wildfire,
Crackling through the heart
Like a dry bone forest ablaze.
Fortunately…
Love can rain,
And not a timid drizzle,
More a monsoon that sings to the roots,
Scorching terrain of twisted passion into a flood
That asks not permission,
But breaks through the dam of cruelty,
Drowning the architecture of vengeance
And leaving behind a field of reflections,
Where memory and mercy urge green from gray,
Teaching the heart’s foundation how to forgive,
Where even Hate must see itself and weep.
But Hate’s tenacity…
Re-builds flaming walls around Life’s shattered mirrors,
Each shard a wound
Connected by a base of rancor’s burning mud of silence.
Yet…
Love walks barefoot
Through jagged corridors of passion,
Bleeding truth and planting wildflowers
In every crevasse, crack and quivering ooze of fear.
In the end…
Love is not soft and weak,
It is a hammer coated in velvet,
A lion carrying the fragrance of roses
As it walks into the flames,
Not to perish,
But to teach the vaporous glow
How to warm without destroying.
Love wishes to be a different glow,
The sun that refuses to set,
A stubborn light that outshines
The ashen radiance of Hate.
Love does not shout,
But endures with its quiet persistence,
Causing Hate to forget how to breathe for the moment.
But…
Just as a smoldering fire can rekindle,
So too can rain become a storm of passion,
Whispering not in the tempest,
Rather, it climbs the throat of thunder,
Rips open the darkened skies with bare hands,
And plants a flag in the heart of cruelty’s chaos.
Hostility throws knives made of silence,
But Love catches them and carves bridges
From their blades,
Knowing Hate persists in the world,
But Love’s Forgiveness and Infinite Grace.
Know how to resist and endure.
Filled with great lines like "Love is a velvet hammer."
I will be aware of someone says to me, "I love you to death." ;-)
