There are words that seal the deal with pleasure
That make our long-held dreams come true .
And words that brighten up our treasures
And words that chase away the blues.
There are words that press our happy buttons
And words that lovers need to hear
And words that fill our hearts with gladness
And those that fill our cups with cheer.
But in the waning days of life
When there's little left to say
There are words that clear away the sadness
And words that send me on my way.
They arrive without much coaching
While the angels are smiling with eyes so true
The words that fill my heart with gladness...
Are simply these: "I love you."
While they won't break our bones, your poem is right in telling us that they influence almost everything.
