Where ever you are on your Journey just know that Abba Father is working everything out for your good.....Keep Hope Alive!
During my last pregnancy there were times when it felt as if I would not make it something had gone terribly wrong. The simplest chore had to be abandoned because of shortness of breath and excessive weight gain. Soon the doctors diagnosed the problem; the placenta had all but detached itself from my unborn baby and was hanging on only by a thread so to speak. Frequent scans were ordered to monitor the situation for if the placenta detached itself completely the doctors said, “You could bleed internally and both of you could die.” On each scan, the baby’s heart beat was very strong and gave me hope. Yet upon her arrival at home, I discovered that she was incoherent and my heart sank into despair. I felt it was my entire fault and questioned as to why I got sick during the pregnancy followed by condemnation. The Word spoke from book of Romans 8:1-2, (1)”There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” (2)”For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” The Word then took me to the Epistle of John 9:1-3, (1)”Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was born blind from birth.” (2)”And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Pay careful attention to Jesus response, (3)”Jesus answered, ‘Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.” This Word brought me much comfort but as my baby grew I became overcome with grief to see her struggle to eat and to walk! She was afraid of just about everything. The doctors said she would not walk and talk or be able to learn but do you know God is faithful to His Word! One night as I lay upon my bed sobbing and feeling so sorry for my baby and reverting to thinking this is all my fault; a miracle happened, she ran into my room and jumped into the bed and squeezed my upper arm very firmly as if to say, “See mommy, I have emotions, I can understand all that is going on! It is not your fault, mommy! Don’t cry.” Immediately my response, “LORD, she can understand!” From that day to this, ‘feeling sorry for her’ vanished and Abba Father showed to me the many gifts which He had placed within her from birth.
All across the globe but especially here in the Bahamas there is a growing number of special needs children and individuals who do not need you feeling sorry for them, instead they only wish that you and I would treat them as a human being and accept them for who they are. Please adhere to the parking places allotted for them, try not to stare at them, instead see from God perspective the greatness He has placed in each child. Listen- it is not easy, I recall an incident on a Sunday morning being in a hurry to get to Sunday school, everyone was in the car except me and my baby girl. For some reason one of her shoes would not fit on her feet, finally becoming so frustrated said to her, “You are just too much work!” Just as I turned to walk away, I heard these words “You are over forty years and I am still working on you! ‘Go and apologize to your baby!” The look on my baby’s face said, “Mommy, I forgive you! What an awakening and a powerful reminder that you and I are under construction and still God has not perfected us yet; He is also working on special needs children too.
I just stopped by to encourage parents and caregivers of special needs children God knew that He could entrust you to care for and nurture the child or children He has placed in your hands. Yes, He knew sometimes you would become frustrated but what is really important is your compassionate and loving heart! You are doing a wonderful work taking care of your child/children and God will not forget your labour of love! Pause right where you are for a moment as I pray this prayer for you. Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus, breathe Your breath on this mother and father reading this Article right now. Move by the power of the Holy Spirit; let them feel Your presence surrounding them. Divinely intervene on their behalf Father and allow them to see and experience Your Word in demonstration in the lives of their (mine too) children in Jesus name! Continue Father to enrich their lives with Your abundant Blessings and grant them Your peace which passes all understanding; Send now provisions Lord to each household. Amen.
Whenever you hear the question, who sinned? Always be reminded that your child is a special Gift form Abba Father and soon you and I will see the Glory of God revealed in each of their lives! I hear the Words of Jesus Christ resounding from the Epistle of John 9:3 “Jesus answered, ‘neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.”
