While on your journey you will at some time experience hurt and pain and you too may be tempted to cry out, O Lord, How Long? Be encouraged as you read. God bless you!
The doctors gave their diagnosis, prescribed different medications which gave only temporary relief and in some cases the side effects were being worse than the illness. At one particular time after being transported by ambulance to the hospital, I refused to be treated. I had grown so weary of being sick and of taking all of the medications. The doctors and nurses were in disbelief, but I insisted and was told I could not be released until I signed a form affirming this so that they would not be held accountable for my demise. I did sign the form and on my way home from the hospital, cried out to Abba, Father, O LORD, how long? Almost ten years had passed and God did not answer still I continued to hold on to my faith.
Today you may have been battling numerous sicknesses and diseases in your body for many years and could be at your intellects end but I only stopped by to remind you that God is not limited to our time, circumstances cannot restrict God, His timing is perfect! Will you take this moment to pause for a few minutes to redirect on the woman who was sick with the issue of blood for twelve long years and of how she had spent all she had with the best doctors, but instead of getting better, she grew worse, but one day she heard that Jesus was nearby. Within herself, she had made a decision to get up and seek for Jesus. It did not matter to her if she could not touch Him, the hem of His garment would do. She had a strong faith! It is quite possible throughout her lengthy illness, she may have cried out many times, O LORD, how long? I was summarizing, let's read what this woman really said from the Gospel of Luke chapter 8:43-48 KJV (43) “ And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any.” (44) “ Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.” (45) “ And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?” (46) “ And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.” (47) “ And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.” (48) “ And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.”
Pay attention life is filled with many trials, disappointments, and heartaches which bring about changes sometimes you are not equipped to withstand. Your greatest enemy is not Satan. All too often self will get in the way and hinder you from being obedient to God’s call to your life. Let’s read from the book of Isaiah chapter six where Isaiah envisioned God’s glory and after having his lips purified when he was given specific instruction to preach to God’s people, he asked God, how long. But then again can you imagine preaching to a people until no one is there to preach to? Let’s pick up from Isaiah chapter 6:11 Isaiah’s question, O Lord how long? (11) “ Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man and the land be utterly desolate.” The Lord did not stop there, (12) “ And the Lord, have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land.”
As I conclude this message, I challenge you whether you are battling sicknesses and diseases in your body or discouraged and have become despondent about preaching and ministering to others. Listen, I remember while battling for ten years of sickness. I was sitting in my bathtub and when I looked at myself, I cried out to God, Father, are you going to let me die like this! Abba, Father still did not answer, but at the end of ten years, He gave me this word from the book of Psalm 118:17 “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.” Yahweh has healed and preserved me to encourage you to stand on His word for your healing no matter how long it takes. Ministers of the Gospel, Satan’s most effective tool is the discouragement. I pray today for divine intervention on your behalf and for Abba, Father to anoint you afresh with His strength to continue to be faithful no matter how people react and mistreat you for the Gospel call…….. Stand on the word! I am a living testimony and no longer do I ask, O Lord, how long? I am forever grateful that God did answer me and am humbled to be used as His instrument to remind you that your sicknesses and diseases are not unto death. Abba, Father did not allow me to die. He will keep you alive and bring forth His divine healing! Men and women of Yahweh continue to be faithful and obedient in your call to preach the word of God like Isaiah, God will honor you for your faithfulness no matter how long it takes!
