GET READY!  GET SET!  GO!

 Having been widowed a few years and inactive, found new friends living close by with background in writing. Started learning a little about the field and the thought crossed my mind – why not write my story? After all, through the years had related many stories about my experiences. People found my stories amusing. Could it be possible? I didn’t have illusions of a “best seller.” Just writing it would make me a success.Write a book? How? One day, sat at the computer, typed a few words and lo and behold, before the day was out had typed several hundred words.
            Stood, scratched my head, and asked – is that all there is to writing a book? How wrong I was! The more learned from new-found friends the more I understood how difficult writing is. It is so complex, (to the ignorant like me) so many rules to follow. Wasn’t in school long enough to learn, let alone the knowledge of applying punctuation. Why can’t I write like I Bull Shit? I decided to write my story and self-publish without being intimidated too much by grammar, and whatever else is expected. I’ve learned that when you deal with agents and publishers you lose autonomy. If you think you have the best cover they will change it and do it their way and you’ve got no say so. Well, I didn’t subscribe to that.
           I opted to try it “my way” first with help of others in the field. Hopefully, you’ll find entertaining what I’ve written. A Juan Steinbeck I’m not – not even ex-President Bush. The title chosen “Barrio Boulevard of Broken Dreams” bests describe stories of experiences in life; disappointments, failures and just plain chaos growing up in a poverty stricken area hidden away south of the tracks where dreams were free.
