What can happen when one is taking medication.
A visit with a chipmunk!!
An adventure in my own back yard!
Sunshine drew me outside today. I thought I might get stuck into some gardening.
Dosed up and spaced out on hay-fever allergy medication, I found I just could not raise the energy to garden. I repotted an inside plant, threw some peanuts for the chipmunk living in the back garden and some apples for the Crows and peanut buttered slices of bread further away.
Then I sat down because I had to and watched for chipmunk. The entrance to her new home was closed up but here she is, coming around from the other side of the rock. She’s made another opening. Clever girl!!
As she gathers up her peanuts into her mouth pouches, something is happening to me.
I believe I am shrinking; smaller and smaller until I am sitting on a pile of clothes. I was wearing a scarf, so I wind that around myself into a sarong and look across at the chirpy Chipmunk that has grown as big as me!!
She nods her head and I scramble down off that enormous chair and follow her down into her home. What a wonderful place she lives.
We turn three, no four corners as we descend below damp earth until we have gone such a long way. Deeper and deeper to where her tunnel branches off into different directions. It is cool but dry down here.
I follow as close as I can as she darts into one tunnel and I find that it opens into a chamber. A store house actually. There are seeds and nuts everywhere, all carefully covered with dry leaves and well chewed cedar chips. Ah ha, so you use my garden mulch for covering your store house. I see. Hmnnn interesting. What a clever little oportunist you are my new found friend.
Next we briefly visit another chamber; this one is obviously her bathroom. I turn away to give her privacy! She nods her head for me to follow her yet again and another short passage leads me to a warm nest of grasses, peanut shells, more saw dusted wood chips and chewed rags and leaves. It is really warm here but what is she doing? Chirpy noses into her nest and gently removes a tiny hairless baby with soft pink skin and a tail. She offers it to me and as I cuddle this miracle weighing about 3 grams she brings out another. She has two tiny babies. Together we cuddle them close before her mothering instinct warns her to put them back. I hand my baby back with some reluctance but she is ready to leave and I follow her back up that steep and windy tunnel.
The Caw, Caw, Caw, of a Crow disturbs me and well, I find myself, back in the chair and well yes… I am myself.
That allergy medication must be stronger than I thought.
