The therapy session that morning had not gone well. Muscles Emily had counted on to work had stayed limp, and her all her efforts were in vain. Her legs had refused to move. The therapist tried to encourage Emily not to give up, but her hope was already beginning the fade. “It could take a while before you reach your goal, you have to give it time.” She tried to reassure Emily, but time was not something Emily felt she had a lot of. If she was going to walk again, Emily knew she needed to get moving now. Silently she chided herself for wanting to give up so soon, when she had barely even started her therapy. As she transferred to the bed, peace filled her heart, and she let herself dwell in that feeling. She would walk again Emily could feel it.
