Car sped towards airport ,Anita was confused with incident with shyam , suddenly Shyam ’ s Flower shop was visible , Anita requested her father to stop at shop as she wanted to buy flowers for her mother , Shyam father greeted them , they bought flowers and sped off towards Airport .
Shyam started to walk back not even hii from his mouth and she was gone long time never ever in life would she meet and recognize him. shyam walk to home was painful he found tree where he has hidden some cards which he was planning to give her , rose was still in his had and it was crushed like his heart, Shyam was feeling very heavy hearted, he wept all night although he always thought to crying was girlie thing, but as his heart was torn apart, he can ’ t speak.
That was the biggest loss in shyam's life & to add to it this first time failed that too
10th grade, as if time for him stopped Anita has taken it away from him.
Shy was he called name was Shyam sunder, well thats our protagonist, to tell about him he was die hard romantic right from the start, the virus called love entered in him when he was quite young age when he was in 5th grade, well that we would not discuss as its pretty pain full to even think about, well that love story ended in shyam getting badly bashed by his father, lesson was learnt “ to love but remain discreet ” .
As he grew up, shyam was more about helping his father in flower shop and studies.although his heart always waited for some one special. To describe our protagonist he was quite remarkable in looks, tall for his age and well supported by good body. Many local girls wanted to hook with him, but shyam always was resenting and remain withdrawn, nobody knew whether it was his father excess to his first love, or he was waiting for some one special. But shyam for unaware of all gossip, even him being gay was jokingly discussed among local girls.
This first day of grade 10, school roll was being called and class teacher came and gave big list of do and don ’ t well majority it was don ’ ts . Class teacher kept repeating roll no 49 again and again , and the he called name Anita Rai , name was like clicker to shyam suddenly he look toward teacher and the voice came in from entrance “ can I come in sir ” , shyam turned their was girl golden hair and most beautiful face he has ever seen was standing on door with man tucked in probably Armani standing behind, her teacher joined them and discussed some thing with man and then invited Anita to class and gave her seat in front row of girls side. , shyam was like emotions were flooding him ,all feelings of love and soul mate has come back , he was alive , out of some self imposed exile . he found some one shrugging him and then piercing voice of teacher came to his ears , “ are you deaf ,I am shouting your roll call 50 for last five times are you lost ” .Shyam stumble back to realty and tried speaking but words were not coming just some mumbling “ yyyyyyyyess SIR ” finally he managed
Shyam came back to his senses, as he was aware about teacher ’ s reputation of being strictest in the school. But soon he was gain busy in looking at Anita ’ s hair as only that as visible.Shyam suddenly the love switch was on and he just wanted to look at and just
keep looking ,even Anita found it stare was weird. but he was not only one whole class was staring at her some out of jealousy some out of awe and then shyam out of total submission , but for Anita all were same .
Days passed , shyam was desperate to some how come to her notice , for her he was just part of crowd , she never used to socialize with any one specially of shyam ’ s stature, shyam was son of common townie his forefather were born and died in same town and nothing much was expected out of him also , but he was not alone same was story with all the Townies .She was always accompanied by two of her friend Nyla sheikh , daughter of rich business tycoon and Sheena kapoor , whose parents were well high flying socialite and so she always aspired to emulate that qualities in her , both as per shyam were thoroughly corrupted and they envisaged to keep Anita away from her .
But for Anita , this disparity was very intriguing, as back in London in her school their was nothing like this, even behavior of nyla and Sheena was disturbing but she took her father ’ s advise of keeping aloof from locals and kept moving with her two elite friends.
Days passed and shyam was no longer able to focus on any academic , he was always very excited to come to school , and walk around civil lines where Anita use to stay , well just to introduce Civil line is up market area specially inhabited buy rich and affluent class.
One Sunday morning shyam was again forced by his father, to open the flower shop, shyam was in his old rag shirt and shorts cleaning the floor and suddenly he heard knock on the shops door and voice called “ Are you open ” , his father called ‘ yes mam , plz come in “ . Girl told that she needed flowers for her father ’ s birthday. her father showed her different type of flowers, Shyam could recognize voices of Nyla and Sheena as they were in their loudest best but their third companion was not audible, they were joking about shyam ’ s father clothes and how silly he was, shyam unaware of this was busy in cleaning as he has no interest in participation in his father business.
Suddenly his father shouted “ samu, bring special flowers from inside ” , shyam reluctantly got up and took flowers he carried flowers in way that his face was behind it and was not visible, suddenly through flowers he saw Anita , he froze till on place started to go back inside, if she looks at his situation it would be disaster but his father shouted and ask him to come out. And shyam muttered in fake tone “ its wrong one ” . Father called back “ you fool its right one come out ” . shyam cursed his father every step he took finally he didn ’
have choice , as his father snatched flowers from him and he was standing just next to Anita she was so beauty full , like an angel, why the hell are you standing here , go and finish cleaning and girls look at him but their was nothing , Anita didn ’ t notice him, that was not surprising as he was part to large group of admirers who use to stare, stalk her.Shyam was shocked, she is not even aware about her presence.
But her father was busy in selling and she was in buying she asked for cost , her father slyly told its for 2500 for you madam is just 2000, shayam muttered “ ratshit , won ’ t even cost 500 ” , Anita turned towards him as she was about to pay 2000, opened her purse , for shyam it was unbearable. Shyam said loudly it ’ s for 500. Father was too shocked and he cannot react in front of them as this could jeopardize his future business as his business runs of this few handfuls of elite in town. Anita looked at him she found his face familiar but can ’ t figure exactly where she has seen him. Finally Shyam ’ s father murmured sorry there is some mistake in, plz pay 500. Anita paid and left with flower with small very small memory of shyam in her heart. Shyam father cursed him was she your relative. Shyam was about to say that she is his life but refrained and just told that she is a friend.Shyam was very happy with his bravery but has to play heavily in evening for this. One thing shyam learned was love is pain full
Now shyam just next day in school very thought full and painful. Painful, because
father has rewarded him heavily for his loss, and thoughtful because he wants to change his looks so that Anita doesn ’ t recognize him from yesterday ’ s incident.
Shyam went to shop and flicked 100 from his father ’ s purse and got new hairdo, threw his shoes and forced his mother to buy new pair. One thing was missing was vehicle even when he asks Anita , how can he take her around, so he decided to get cycle. shyam had some saving rest it was easy take from his father ’ s safe, which he knew could result in heavy pain later on, but for now his head was full of love .shyam finally roamed through all shops but he has get only 300 and all good cycles were above 1000, finally he bought second hand cycle which year of manufacturing was same as his birth year, that probably was some karmic connection that lead to purchase of this vintage cycle. But as shyam found out that he has to drag cycle as it needed another set or chain and tires probably paint too.
Finally he check with repairing shop and cost of repairing was 250 and finally there was no option but father ’ s safe and as there was no doubt deed was committed and after three days cycle was ready. Shyam told his parents that it ’ s his friends ’ cycle.
Next day it was days were same for shyam, looking at Anita was like his life, way she moved her hair, her eyes her smile every thing for shyam as soon as he enters school it was trance, school bell rang and time to go, as Anita and Nyla were passing, some rogue students started passing comments, But they passed and rode away in Nyla ’ a car. But for shyam this was unbearable .They were 8 -9 in group shyam prior to confrontation shyam was with his 10-15 friends but as soon as they sensed his aggressive ways and started slipping , b ’ coz they knew that rogue guys very in school ’ s football team and all very in class 10 . but shyam was burning he has seen Anita upset , his friend requested him not to pick fight but shyam was burning Anita upset face was fueling fire in him , he told his friend some one has to stand up although his friends thought only result out of was they being thrashed . As shyam reached infront of those guys and looked behind his friends well their was no sign of them, they just vanished. shyam was alone , he confronted them by ramming his cycle in to their and punched main guy after that their was only darkness punches were flowing ,when he opened his right eye it found only rod left out of his cycle , and his left eye was closed like permanently closed and he fainted.
He again opened his eye to his father curses and Mom ’ s continued her melodramatic act , by the way shyam ’ s mother always wanted to be a actress and well she ran away many time at her young age , but soon she realized it was not for her, but such occasion always gave her opportunity to sharp her skill. She believed still has talent in her and could be hero ’ s sister or heroin ’ s sister.shyam again acted to be unconscious. All this act of heroic and no one was aware; his parents were perplexed why their timid son fought with band of students.
Next day Anita was unaware about shyam heroics came to know their was fight among locals for some girl, and they all laughed at the foolishness of boy who tried to fight football team. But in her heart Anita respected the guy who fought for his lady love.
Shyam was not able to got to school for next 15 days, the day he was about to join school his father checked where is your friends cycle , shyam looked at rod that as left out of cycle and told his father that he has returned it .as he was about to leave home his mother asked his about result . Some thing stuck shyam it was result announcement today
Shyam was not even aware what were subject covered, for him it was Anita smile that meant every thing and now it was time for reality check, Principal came, gave pep talk about schools vision and mission to the students and parents. Then came announcement that their were three award for not for toppers but for losers , one who has failed in maximum subjects , first name was called Mr. sujit nayak , for him it great thing his parents never went to school for them this was his threshold, he proudly came , then came 2 nd rank Mr. Tony d ’ silva another proud loser and third name was shocker for every one as name was one of good students in class , But shyam was unaware from all this .Anita was like fantasy to him he never came out of it , he was just looking at her , suddenly hand came and grabbed him it was his father ’ s he told your name is being called your have failed in all subjects , his father would have hit him had his teacher not come in between , both shyam and his father came in, Anita recognized shyam ’ s father as owner of Flower shop , then she started to recollect , and finally found shyam was guy whom has often came across , a thought came was he stalking him .
Principal told class that shyam is example of how losing focus could result in disaster , shyam whose one of good students has already crossed all barrier of self destruction, Anita was looking at him , some thing told her that he was always near to her through out the year , a thought crossed that was she the reason for his debacle , suddenly Nyla whispered in Anita ear ’ s that he was fool who fought the football team, Anita knew it was same day they were teasing them .did he fought for her , thought came but it just vanished .finally class was adjourned. After two day their was last day for half yearly semester and vacation thereafter
Shyam for unperturbed by all this. He went to shop rather than home, he has decided he would tell Anita about his feeling ’ s he decided to pen it down he stared to write every thing
Here, Anita father was not happy with Quality of school they were contemplating to change Anita ’ s school or may be send her back to her old school in London
Here at flower ’ s shop shyam ’ s father came to know about break in safe and immediately he knew culprit, he shouted for shyam, shyam who was just finished pouring his heart on paper, hid it in booke which he was planning to give to Anita . Suddenly his father got hold of him then slaps flew , and curses of all length were thrown at shyam .he was in bad shape and then he asked his mom to throw in out of house for 2 -3 days , let him fend for him self.
Shyam was still wearing his school dress he went and slept on park , he was not at all thinking about anything his heart was full of love and he has decided to tell her himself and dropped idea of writing to her fearing that she can get offended ,
Shyam mind was running with imagination, he has already decided church to be visited and name of kids and also color of his marriage suit. so Anita was every thing for him .but remembering old bashing he stuck to his mantra of being discreet and finally it was last day for class 10 th shyam thought this is he would say hii to her and ask her for walk back from school. shyam was awake whole night to design details , he has practiced every thing , even went to school and back three times and rehearsed his line .dreaming about Anita her golden hair her eyes well nothing beyond that , because as per shyam true love has no place for sex its eternal and nothing of physical sleaze he would allow. He tried cleaning his clothes , but they were crumbled and dirty , shyam plucked a rose from his shops backyard and hid in his shirt , but didn ’ t notice it had thorn and it was piercing him , but for him excitement to meet Anita was every thing Finally the sun came up , but shyam was already ready.
Teachers just congratulated every one for being good, and last benchers obviously laughed on it. But shyam was focused, Anita was looking so beautiful, he has got new hairdo and for shyam it was best thing happened. final teachers =formally announced vacation to be starting and class burst in to shouting and great roar of multiple chit chats and should . Every body was entangled together discussing their plans bat vacation, for shyam vacation was worst time as his father would as him to work on his flower shop. Shyam some how teared vast mass of students and tried to reach on other side, he was in bad shape is shirt was crumbled shoes were dirty and thorns had pierced him badly and there were some stains of blood on his shirts, but he was not aware, his love was strong he cursed million time to teacher's then management and principle as they have no control.
As shyam reached on the road, Anita was on other side her father's car was on other side with beacon on it, he reached to Anita , she looked and him. Anita hop in father called, Anita looked at shyam , and her eyes asked him was their any thing ,her father called again Anita we have plane top catch , Anita replied two minutes she has caught shayam many time staring at , her and more often just loitering around her house , she asked her father a minute and said hii to shyam. shyam was perspiring and was not able to utter word their is so much to say, plan for an hour and he had minute, his future was at stake, he was confused what should he say introduce /propose he was totally lost, Anita father came out of car, checked with shyam is every thing all right son, Sorry I know you would miss Anita as we are moving out of country, but you can always write her and mail her. Come Anita , Anita was still looking at shyam and their small tear starting to build in his eyes. Anita told him good bye we would meet soon again and she got in to the car, and as car sped to wards airport, she was watching him in car rear mirror, and shyam was standing still, she saw, shyam removing flower tucked in his shirt, and suddenly a tear build in her eye and she waved Bye, may be last time.
School started, Shyam has lost it all in last six moths have changed his life, he lost his academics, his confidence and his love also, he asked his father that he wanted to work in his shop and no more intended to study, his father was confused, but agreed on one condition, that he would finish his final year at school.
Shyam agreed and then finally school reopened after vacation, but for shyam he was not
to get in to school, as he entered he found same chattering across corridors, about vacation and fun they had. But for shyam he was aloof , he excused his friends and entered class , class pattern was changed , each bench had one Girl and one boy , Shyam walked in teacher offered him to sit with Nyla who was sitting alone at this nyla gave frowned , shyam requested teacher to sit alone.
Suddenly voice came , can I come in sir , and shyam didn ’ t bother to check who she was
no one can fill Anita ’ s place and for time being he wanted to be alone and just clear this year and join his father , at least near flowers he would remember her. Suddenly he some called can I sit here, shyam turned and he almost fainted, it was Anita , world started to move, and he was stuck. Teacher shouted Anita if you want you can take any other seat, she said she is comfortable, but shyam was too shock to move, so finally teacher and intervene and physically shook shyam so that Anita sat next to him.
Shyam fumbled and said hii , she joked it took whole vacation for him to say Hii and requested him to be more fast in future as she can ’ t wait for lifetime. Shyam was confused he thought she was just trying some joke on him. She asked him again would you like to tell me some thing or Hii was all.shyam was totally confused and was really rigid avoiding her beautiful eyes .She told him that he shouldn ’ t have tried that cycle stunt; shyam was shocked she took flower and his letter from her bag and just said she is ready to walk back from school with him if he wished.
Shyam eyes were filled so was her, while walking back every one was watching them, but as they moved and they reach less crowded corner, she told him that, while returning back, she bought flower ’ s from her father ’ s shop and luckily she picked same flowers which shyam has chosen for her and she read letter while traveling and wept throughout night and convinced her father that she wanted to stay in dehradun and complete her education.
They both walked happily, thought their lives
