I think I swallowed a butterfly. I can feel it fluttering in my stomach. This is my big day.My first day of school. It’s very important, at least thats what mom said.
Well I wont be there because I am getting sick. I am sure of it. Besides, who will play
with Mrs O’Donells’ cat ? She will be so sad. What about my toys? They will be lonely.
In the car I tell mom I forgot my raincoat.
“That’s O.K she answers, smiling. “It’s not supposed to rain.”
Standing on the steps to the school I look at Mom. There is a lump in my throat. Something is stuck in it. What if I choke!
Mom takes my hand and squeezes it. Crouching down beside me she looks in my eye and whispers. “Its going to be alright.” And do you know what … IT WAS.
