A great quote was shared with me a few weeks ago. It was, "Be in the moment."

Many times in ones haste to get all of their daily tasks completed they neglect to concentrate on the duty at hand. When we are at work we spend more time thinking about how we are missing out on activities with our wife and kids. Then when were with our family we are thinking about all the work piled on our desk. Because we neglect to focus on the task at hand we end up accomplishing very little and wasting away precious moments with our loved ones.

The other day my kids wanted to play Monopoly with me. Monopoly isn't a short game. It can take up to 2 to 3 hours if you play it right. I agreed but was not fully enthusiastic about doing so. I was more concerned with how soon I would get to go to sleep.

After a few minutes of playing and seeing how happy my kids were I came to the realization that this would be a great opportunity to increase their knowledge in math, a subject that my dad loved sharing with me. Every time my son or daughter rolled the dice I allowed them to count the dots and move their own pieces. Then when they needed change I asked them how much they needed back. If they didn't know the answer then I would show them how to write out the formula on paper and solve it.

Because I took the time to be in the moment, I can honestly say, "That was the best game of Monopoly I ever played!" You see if you can learn to "Be in the moment," you bring heaven down to earth.
