Memories growing up with my mother.

Memories of Days Gone by

by Jan Richards pen name

In my mind, I have stored many wonderful memories of days gone by, and from time to time, I call upon those memories.

As a child, my mother always made time to be with me. We would bake together. She had the big cookie sheet, I had my play cookie sheet.

My mother would roll out the dough for cookies, and give me my own to roll.  Then we both put our cookies on a cookie sheet, and my mother would put them in the oven to bake. When the cookies were done, my mother would take them out, and admire mine.

The next day when I took my carriage into herkitchen, with my doll in it, she would ask, "Hello Mry, how is the baby today?" Then she would look in the carriage, at the doll, and say, :Isn't she the cuttiest baby."

After talking to the doll for a while, as if it were a real baby, my mother would ask me, "Mary, would you like some hot chocolate?" Of course, I would answer,"Yes."

Then my mother would warm the milk, and whe it was warm enough, she would put in the cocoa, pour it into twocups, take some cookies she had baked, and say, "Mary, would you like some cookies, with your hot chocolate?" Again I would say, "Yes."

After we finished the hot chocolate and cookies, we would talk for a while, then my mother would say, "I have to start cooking for my husband." I would say,"I must go home. I have to start cooking for my husband too." Then off I would go to my bedroom with my carriage.
