It is the year twenty twenty one, I thought by the time I was twenty five I would have my own life, a stable job, a family and a roof over my head. That all changed with the apocolyptic nuclear war of twenty nineteen.

The war was sparked by the dispute of ownership over a newly discovered island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean or as it was called then The Great American Lake. America and Russia were unsure as to who had ownership of the island because America owned the Atlantic but Russia had discovered the island. As always with arguing superpowers, the size f their ego far surpasses the size of their brain.

The arms race started first, both sides were trying to show their military might by enforcing conscription and dragging in their allies. This all started around twenty seventeen. At the time I was in Rio De Janeiro with my mate Paddy. Paddy was tall, built, charismatic and strong minded. We left for Rio because we both got kicked out of university because of a drug plant by our preppy room mate. The campus police were tipped off by some freshmen and Paddy and I got the blame because of Josh's 'Connections'.

We chose Rio because of an old friend of mine who had lived there all her life, I met her on holidays back in my secondary school days and we kept in touch mainly because I fell madly in love with her the second I layed eyes on her. Paddy and I were staying in Christina's flat somewhere along a beach in Rio.
