Two brothers find peace at last. The tree weeps no more
Weeping Tree Chapter 12
It was time for Moseck to take his place as king. Everyone was there. Antony and Rebbecca, his grandparents, stood next to him, along with his mother, Lela, his stepfather, Sibon, and his sister Lydia. The only person missing was Selaus. Everyone wondered why he was absent but continued the crowning cermony. The celebrating and feasting lasted well into the night.
The next day was the anniversary of his grandfather's death and the tree was weeping. Moseck went in search of his brother and found him in the courtyard.
"Selaus, I was greatly grieved when you weren't at the cermony. Why weren't you there, my brother?"
"It's all about you, isn't it? It isn't fair! I am Sibon's rightful heir, not you. I should be king!" Selaus raged.
Moseck was stunned by Selaus' outburst. He had no idea that Selaus felt that strongly. He did know that it could not go any further or the heartache of his family's history would continue. He closed his eyes and silently asked God what he should do. He felt an urge to talk about this with Selaus in the garden. He asked Selaus to walk with him a minute. Selaus agreed and they walked to the garden.
"Listen, Selaus! Hear the tree wailing. See the tears like rain coming from the leaves. It is said that because of an ancestor this tree will cry until there is peace between brothers. Please, Selaus, why don't we be the ones to stop this tragedy from repeating?" begged Moseck.
Selaus stared at the tree as he listened to his brother's pleas. The drops glistened on the leaves and fell to the ground. The crying was as if a child's heart were breaking. Suddenly Selaus understood what was happening and fell to his knees.
"What was I thinking?" he cried as he started to weep. Moseck knelt beside him and together they prayed for forgiveness. To their amazement there was silence. They looked to the tree. The leaves were dry and the crying had stopped. At last there was peace between brother's in Rhon and the tree wept no more.
My second book is about a boy who has Asperger's Syndrome and is bullied to the point to where he shoots up his school. I have divided the excerpts from it into three parts: Before, during and after the shooting.
