Once there was a beautiful princess, named Saphire Rose. She had long blond hair and was in her early twenties. Her father had arranged for her to marry the king of Ireland. They had met before , and was in love.
There were Two very wicked maidens , who lived in the kingdom. They both wanted to marry the king. So they set out to ruin everything for Saphire Rose.
" Let's go to the old lady by Hollow lake . She will give us a spell to put on the princess and I will marry the king!" said one maiden. Her name was Lola. She was short and plump.
"What about me ?" asked the other girl , who was tall and skinny and had freckles. She wore pigtails in her hair.
"I am older than you ! I should be chosen."said Lola.
So the wicked maidens went to visit the old lady by the lake. She offered them some magic mango juice in return for a bag of gold coins and a fattened pig.
The maidens giggled all the way back to the castle , where they saw Princess Saphire rose standing. She was in the garden among the beautiful flowers.
" Good afternoon, Princess Saphire." they said sweetly.
"Well, good afternoon , young maidens. Is'nt this a beautiful day?" she said
"Yes !it is. The only thing that makes it more wonderful , is this wonderful tasting mango juice. It is one of our favorite drinks." said Lola.
"My, I have never had mango juice! "
"Would you like to taste mine?" asked Mannie, the other maiden.
"May I ," replied princess Saphire Rose.
The princess tasted the luscious mango juice. It was sweet like nectar.
"Thank you, " she replied .
The two wicked maidens waited and watched . Suddenly the princess felt funny. Her tiny feet started to root and grow into the ground. Within seconds she had grown into a tree , by the castle. The two wicked maidens giggled as they both ran away home.
The king was heart broken and announced to the kingdom ,that he'd never marry.
Each night he was awakened with the cries of someone singing in the garden. As he searched , he found no one there. Months turned into years and the King was still sad in heart. One day he went into the garden and sat down by the old tree. He leaned up against it and began to cry. As he cried he felt the tree moving. He quickly moved away and the tree changed.
"Please don't go !" cried Princess Saphire .
"Oh, my sweet love , What happened to you ?"he asked as he held her close.
"It was the two maidens. They put a spell on me.!" she cried.
"The king was outraged and had the maidens thrown out of the kingdom. The Princess and the King were married and lived happily ever after.There was no more singing in the garden after that .
