In his investigation, he found that Ruth Dillam lived in Peggy’s house during that time period and was also Peggy’s great-aunt; furthermore, Jon Weatherly was a great-uncle to the current old man Weatherly. The record stated Jon had accosted Ruth more than once… hence the murder.
Under further evaluation, the therapist thought it was best to inform the police. He, in turn, was patched through to Detective Dole, apprising him of what he had ascertained in his investigation. “Really? I’ll be, so you conducted your own frick’n witch hunt.” Dole further stated that under statute ‘2244-kb’ Peggy could be indicted for Jon Weatherly’s murder, being that she was the reincarnated soul of Ruth Dillam. Further evidence suggested that if Peggy was not incarcerated, the odds were that she would probably end up killing old man Weatherly at a future time. But after serious thought on the matter, and loose talk around the station… police detective Dole decided not to charge Peggy, mainly for lack of evidence, saying he didn’t really believe in soul jumping or any of that outlandish hogwash.
A few weeks later, Detective Dole paid Peggy a dire visit, letting her know that old man Weatherly had died suspiciously, by suffocation. And to top it off, she might be arrested for his murder. “I don’t know nothing about any murder.” Peggy snapped back.
“But no one else had motive, Peg, and it’s well known that you harbored hatred in your heart against him. Besides, his house hadn’t been ransacked; so, it all points to you, Peg,” Dole explained. “Oh, and there is one last piece of evidence. During the autopsy, the coroner found cat hair embedded in his waxed handlebar mustache, indicating you must have used your cat blanket to do the job. In addition, I found another note pinned to his front door bearing your signature, of foul smut. Well, Peggy, what will your defense be, insanity maybe, or how about someone from the past committing your crime, as in reincarnation mumbo jumbo? I can’t wait till the jury debates this one.”
Detective Dole and Peggy nervously sat at the kitchen table… Dole taps his fingers, staring into a blank space, contemplating what to do with Peggy… princess slinks into the kitchen in prowl mode, coiling herself about his leg, hunching her back without so much as a purr, excreting hair on Dole’s midnight-blue pressed trousers. In a fit of anger, he shook princess off, hard against the wall, knocking pots and pans onto the floor. He jumped up, yanked open the kitchen door, “Get out of here, cat!” as he bent down to swipe hair away and clean up…he noticed a waxy substance, mustache wax, coming from the belly of that portly-wicked-cat! Without hesitation, he pulled his pistol… on guard, he ventured into the garden where princess was sitting, with her head slumped forward; so, so odd as if to say, you got me, do it… Dole fired! The end
