1. When You Begin to Dislike the Sight of the Word of God
This can begin to happen to an unsuspecting Christian. The pressure of work and home (if you are married) are getting at you. There are many happenings around you that are singing to your hears that God has abandoned the world to those evil gangs in the world of darkness. Even happenings in the church with many so called “men of God’ worshiping money instead of God are not helping matters. You begin to loose trust in what the bible says or what the bible stands for.
Let me inform you that God is in charge and He will always be. He has given us His word as we have it in the bible as our guide. Nothing will stop this. Please you need to take time to refresh yourself spiritually. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
Talk to God in prayer to fill you with His love and fire again.
2. When You Begin to Give Excuses for Not Studying the Word: I believe strongly in the fact that excuses should not be given whenever we find ourselves not doing what we know we should be doing. When we give excuses for not carrying out tasks that we know is beneficial to us, there is every tendency for us to continue on the ‘dangerous lane’ of given these excuses. It is a ‘dangerous lane’ because when we fail to do what we know is good for us to live effectively for a long time or when we even stop doing it altogether, then the end result may not be good for us.
A lot of us have cited our busy schedule at work or at home with the kids (this comes from mothers) as excuses for our inability to study the word of God. Therefore, we give these excuses and we do everything to justify it. This is dangerous! God’s word says, we shall not live by bread alone but by His word (Deuteronomy 8:3). We can’t live effectively as Christians if we don’t create time to study the word of God.
Well many things may be stealing your attention but one thing is sure; nothing is as important as the word of God. Instead of giving excuses, admit to yourself and anyone close to you that you need to find a way around this issue and ask the Holy Spirit to help you out.
You need to create a time table of study of the word of God and give yourself workable time limit to get a reading project done. The presence of the time table placed at a visible location in your room or anywhere you frequent will always motivate you to study the word of God.
You should be careful with those excuses, they may be signs of you racing backward on the faith lane.
3. When the thought of a big idea gets you scared
If you are a Christin, you are not supposed to be scared when God flashes a big idea into your mind. His grace is sufficient for you and His strength is perfected in your weaknesses (2 Corinthians 2:9). When you have a Godly idea, your weaknesses are irrelevant because God’s strength is all you need to finish Godly projects. Your duty is to write down the idea and take practical steps to begin execution from the very least task you do. God’s might come in after this.
