Voice Mix-up

One fine sunny morning the voices at Snuffle’s house got all mixed up.

Mom said in Dad’s deep voice, “We have pancakes, berries, and orange juice for breakfast.”

Dad said in Emma’s high voice, “What did you say?”

Emma said in Snuffle’s voice, “Woof, woof!”

And Snuffle’s said in Mom’s voice, “Please pass the syrup.”

“Yikes! My goodness! Woof!” cried the people.

“Yum, yum, yum,” said the dog.

And all four ran out of the house, jumped into the car, and VROOM VROOMED to Doctor DoGood’s Happy Health Clinic.

“Wow!” said Doctor DoGood when Mom talked in Dad’s voice, Dad talked in Emma’s voice, and Emma barked, “Woof, woof!”

“Wow again!” said Nurse Nicely when Snuffles asked in Mom’s voice, “May I please have a big bowl of orange juice?”

Doctor DoGood, Nurse Nicely, Mom, Dad, Emma, and Snuffles ran out of the clinic, squeezed into the car, and VROOM VROOMED to Valerie the Vet’s Perfect Place for Pets.

“Amazing!” said Valerie when Mom talked in Dad’s voice, Dad talked in Emma’s voice, and Emma barked, “Woof, woof!”

“Amazing again!” Valerie added when Snuffle’s asked in Mom’s voice, “May I please have a tasty treat?”

Valerie the Vet, Doctor DoGood, Nurse Nicely, Mom, Dad, Emma, and Snuffles ran out of the building and squeezed into the car. But they were squeezed too tight to drive anywhere. So they POPPITY-POPPED out of the car and piled onto a bus headed to Scientist Sam’s Lab of Learning.

“No dogs allowed on my bus,” the bus driver told Snuffles.

“Who’s a dog?” Snuffles replied. “I’m a hairy human.”

The bus driver’s eyes went POPPITY POP POP, and he VROOM VROOMED quickly to Scientist Sam’s Lab.

“Awesome!” said Scientist Sam when Mom talked in Dad’s voice, Dad talked in Emma’s voice, and Emma barked, “Woof, woof!”

“Awesome again!” Sam added when Snuffles pointed at a skeleton and asked in Mom’s voice, “May I please chew on a bunch of those bones?”

Scientist Sam, Valerie the Vet, Doctor DoGood, Nurse Nicely, Mom, Dad, Emma, and Snuffles ran down the street to the news studio.

“This isn’t news,” said Newsman Nick when Mom talked in Mom’s voice, Dad talked in Dad’s voice, Emma talked in Emma’s voice, and Snuffles barked, “Woof, woof!”

And indeed it wasn’t. Everything was back to normal.

So Scientist Sam, Valerie the Vet, Doctor DoGood, and Nurse Nicely went back to work.

And Mom, Dad, Emma, and Snuffles went back home.

However…

The next morning, Mom talked in Doctor DoGood’s voice, Dad talked in Nurse Nicely’s voice, Emma talked in Scientist Sam’s voice, and Snuffles talked in Valerie the Vet’s voice.

So all four ran out of the house, jumped into the car, and VROOM VROOMED to the news studio.

To their surprise Doctor DoGood, Nurse Nicely, Valerie the Vet, and Scientist Sam were also at the news studio. To their even bigger surprise Doctor DoGood was talking in Mom’s voice, Nurse Nicely was talking in Dad’s voice, Scientist Sam was talking in Emma’s voice, and Valerie the Vet was talking in Newsman Nick’s voice.

Then Doctor DoGood, Nurse Nicely, Valerie the Vet, and Scientist Sam saw Mom, Dad, Emma, and Snuffles, and they all stopped talking.

And Newsman Nick jumped up and down excitedly, waved several cameramen over, smiled into the cameras and said, “Woof, woof!”

However…

That isn’t the end of the story. Oh, no, no, no. You see, as everyone knows, the show must go on, and this show had to go on the air pronto! But with everyone talking in other people’s voices and Newsman Nick saying “Woof, Woof,” who was going to take charge?

Snuffles, that’s who.

What followed was the highest rated and most repeatedly re-run program in the history of television. Snuffles interviewed every mixed up voice including Newsman Nick and himself! And by the end of the interviews everyone was back to sounding like their old selves. Even Snuffles.

Mom, Dad, Emma, Doctor DoGood, Nurse Nicely, Valerie the Vet, Scientist Sam, and Newsman Nick were so happy that they showered Snuffles with gifts. Dog bones, balls, tasty canine treats, a new collar and leash, a new dog bed, and new dog house filled the car’s trunk and covered the car’s roof on the family’s drive back home.

And everyone lived happily ever after. Especially Snuffles.
