Yesterday in a California courtroom, a man named Bucky Carter was sentenced to four years in prison for vehicular manslaughter. The victim was a policeman, a husband, a father, a son, and a well-loved friend. Bill Mansfield was a good, God-loving man who loved sports. He went for a ride on his bike one evening, the day after his 45th birthday, and was hit from behind by the drunk. I feel that some justice was served. If the man had been removed for all the other DUIs he had in his past, Bill would still be here. Four years for killing a man seems so little. At least he was punished. The drunk who killed my nephew Bobby never did time. Bobby was Bill's brother-in-law. The two never met. I imagine they have by now. I also imagine they are the guardian angels that will look over Tammy, Kaycee, and Samantha. Bobby never got to meet his two nieces. Bill will have to tell him all about his girls.
