I was into writing songs long before I took up writing books. Some of my songs will reflect the kind of person I am. Melancholy at times, I guess my view of our society today is somewhat sad. We worry about what we would like to have or feel we should be able to afford, so much, we fail to enjoy what we do have.
There are too many things to buy today.A person could go broke just trying to get everything for your computer,right?
Anyway, where-ever you live you will probably hear at least one of my songs. "Is That Old House Still Standing?" or "Listen to your Heart" "Knight in Shining Armor" Now here's a funny one "The Kind of Girl All men like" Here are a couple of new ones not out yet, but keep listening they will be soon. "I Wonder What Might Have Been" and "Comimg Back Ain't the same"
My books, Daddy, Could You Love Me? and Before We Disappear go back in time to a more uncomplicated way of life. Now, it had its draw-backs. My mother had to build a fire under a pot and boil our clothes and rinse them in two tubs of water, the water carried up hill from a spring. She hung them out on a line to dry. I remember when it was really cold the clothes would be frozen stiff when we brought them in. However, she didn't say "I got so busy I forgot to throw our clothes in the washing machine before I left the house!" Now do you really, I mean really, appreciate an automatic washer and a clothes dryer?
Before my mom cooked dinner she had to go out in the yard (we kids did it when we got big enough) and carry in wood and start a fire in the cook stove at least a half hour, so as to heat up the cook stove for cooking and baking. Every morning she got up and made bread so that we kids would have biscuits with our breakfast. My dad had to wrap his feet with burlap in the winter before going out in the snow to crank the old car, yes I said crank the car I don't mean turn a key. many times he would crank until he sweat before it would fire up.
Now, isn't there a lot to be very thankful for today? I hope everyone who reads this becomes a little more apprecitive of what we do have today. Now, isn't it rough when you missplace the TV remote? John Love ya.
