A trip to Wally World turned into an upsetting day !
Today, our son Tim and I went to Wallmart. I parked in the parking lot and we went in to do some shopping.
When I came out I could not find the car. I went up and down the parking lot searching for it. I looked every where and I was beginning to panick! I thought some one had stollen it. I kept searching as tears of frustration came into my eyes. Finally I thought , I'll go down one more row of cars and if I don't find it, I'll call the police. Thankgoodness I took the extra time to look. I found it, parked in a place that I don't remember parking it! I got into the car and cried! Thats how Tim found me when he came out!
The thoughts of short term memory are getting lost, a little at a time. I notice it and live it every day. I'm very aware of whats happening and I don't like it, yet there is nothing that can be done to stop its progerss. Its disheartening!
I see my husband forgetting things also and he gets cross instantly, at times about nothing. Then it quicky goes away. I think the dementia starting to work on him. He forgets things too. We both try to help each other as best we can. This disease affects each person differently and moves at its own rate of speed.
We're both forgetting words, names and places at times, or did we do this or that.
Its like being lost, not knowing where to go or what to do, for a brief time. Some times the thought will come back, other times is vacant, lost. Its just not there! Being unable to remember the simplest things is very upsetting and is a grim reminder of whats ahead. Until you have this and it affects your life in every thing you say and do, you'll never really know what its like to expierence it. I pray that none of you never have to got through this.
As I've said before, I write to let you know what "we" , who have this go through. I hope it will bring more understanding to one and all.
We try to live each day as best we can and take joy from the little things life has to offer. This is the only way to survive and go on.

MaryGrace, I know the feeling about losing your car. When I go to the shopping center I usually park on the same row--when available--but one day I had to park on a different row. As usual my mind was on something else when I came out and went to the row where I usually park. Like you, I began to panic when I couldn't find my car. I can only imagine the frustration when something like this occurs on a more frequent basis. Blessings to you and yours.

You are doing fine Marygrace in your situation. I don't know if I'd be as patient. MaryGrace: My heart goes out to you and your husband. I could never imagine what it would be like. I only witnessed this horrible disease in my mother and father. How scary it must be for you. God I wished I could be there for you, anything to help make your fears less.
