Hmmmm. Wonder, why he asks? Am I supposed to? What does he know? Sometimes it seems he has the most uncanny intuition into how the day will go.
Helga’s Heartlines: A Journal
Newmarket, Ontario
Thursday, July 17, 2003.

My early morning routine is to have my wake-up coffee while I read my e-mail. Almost always I get a neat greeting with accompanying graphic from Cyber-pal, Richard. This one:

“Wake-ie Wake-ie ‘goddess’ Helga!” (He likes to tease)

“Have some coffee; feel any different today?”

Feel any different today?

Hmmmm. Wonder, why he asks? Am I supposed to? What does he know? Sometimes it seems he has the most uncanny intuition into how the day will go.

“Well, kinda, sorta, maybe, I think so....
Now that you ask, I feel pretty good, as a matter of fact.
Here’s some reasons why:

Woke up all relaxed and tingly, except I had to pee, which means I couldn’t linger and relish the feeling too long.

Discovered I hadn't removed my contac lenses so my eyes were a bit dry, but after I opened ‘em and blinked a few times I could see the view better than I usually do.

And I started a dietary supplement a few days ago. I found it at one of my favorite coffee bars. They whipped it up in a blender with tropical fruit juice and soy milk into a cold absolutely delicious frappe. It looks like green sludge or watery spinach. Award winning nutritious whole food product, ‘Green+’, created by a Canadian organic chemist, has been a big success for over 30 years. Meanwhile I just discovered it this week. Scrumptious - Includes alfalfa, bee pollen, Royal Jelly, ginkgo biloba, wheat grass sprouts, and a host of other natural extracts - Yummy! A single serving is equivalent to eating 6 salads! You just mix it in your favorite beverage or plain water. No question: I'm energized. It's supposed to be good for the brain, and memory, too....
Maybe it's reached my capillaries by now....

I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon.
My annual check-up.

Also, shall follow up on Mid-life=Migraines. I’ve got to see what I can do about these pesky biweekly headaches.
I think my hormones could be out of wack....
However, I hope the doctor doesn't try to talk me out of HRT altogether or insist on doing so.
It was good enough for lots of women for years and years and years.
Maybe we just need to change the dosage, type, or ratio?
My Estrogen level might be a bit wonky – What’s with the baby hair? Mine was already fine enough.
Maybe Helga needs a touch of Testosterone? She used to have too much.

My mom, 78, warned, “Be careful, you may pay for hormone treatment in the long run.”
I responded, “Mom, in the long run I’ll be dead.”

Right now I can still climb my two sets of steep stairs and go for vigorous daily walks.
My knees and elbows work and my hips don’t need replacing.
Osteoporosis hasn’t set in.
My face, along with my teeth clenched, firm chin leading, is holding up.
Anti-gravity efforts as well as my spoonful of anti-oxidants are kicking in.

It just occurred to me that I’ve had every part of me examined over the years, except my head.
Perhaps the source of my headaches lurks in this localle?
Helga needs her head examined! --
By a neurologist to rule out Swiss Cheese effects ( black holes or absences) or something there, that shouldn't be.
(Of course, my friends and family have always known this).

It turns out my doctor's visit will necessitate further appointments.
We both laughed when she agreed the things I was joking about half-seriously could possibly be true !
We won't know until we run the routine lab tests, pinpoint problems – better yet, rule some out.
In addition, the following precautionary nuisances are necessary at this stage of life:
Bone density test
Mammogram
Colonoscopy – first ever – Yecch!

Am I feeling any different? Indeed!

Partly terrific and partly intrepid.
I intend to remain indestructible for as long as possible.

Anyway, Richard, tell me why you asked. What do you know that I don’t? Why did you put it this way?”

Richard comes back with:
“No I can't explain what I was thinking! I thought of you and my intuition said to send the picture and the message.”

Oh, darn. I have one half of a thought and one person's side of a conversation. My own.
But then again Richard is frequently the catalyst for My Muse....

I find this write most interesting Helga. Feeling good during the day has become a luxury for me. Waking up feeling bad is for the birds. I love to wake up energized and when I don't I fight like hell to at least get my mind right, so my body maybe will follow. really enjoyed this. G

Helg,

You sound fine to me - familiar - and wearing an attitude that should never be a burden. For what it's worth, we share the same morning rituals - except if you get up at 6:00AM, yours takes place three hours before mine.

Oh - here's a book you'll like. I met Charlie in San Francisco two weeks ago. He's a funny man!

Be well - stay happy.

Hi Helga.
Lovely paper. Makes me think...If that is a drawing of you next to the big coffee cup, then you do look a little different! Is this what you see in the mirror today? :)
