When I think about the world around me it isn't all about me.
When I think about the sky above me it isn't all about me.
When I contemplate a big decision it isn't all about me.
When I wonder why I'm not happy it IS all about me.
It IS all about me to make myself happy.
It IS all about me to make a big decision.
It IS all about me under the sky above.
It IS all about me in the world.
When it comes right down to it...it IS all about me...and you and all of us thinking about ourselves first so we can then be ready to be there for others...because it IS all about US!

Good read, this encapsulates the idea of taking control of your destiny. Without that control, how can you help others gain control of themselves!! Very insightful!

Hello Lynn,
When I first read your poem, I studied it. Second time I read it, I began to think. The third time, I honestly had to make a decision! Because all of us are human, it "IS" all about me. We wake every morning to a patterned routine, shower/shave/breakfast/pantyhose/hair fights/ thinking...why on earth am I doing this. The answer is plain and simple, self preservation. However, what we do each day does rub off on by-standers, whether it is from a smile, a pat on the back or being there for a friend/acquaintence in need. Then it becomes US. If we don't think positively about "ME" we can't be a part of this world to help "US."
