I love my cats. I have five, yes five. I never thought in a million years I'd have so many. I hope some day I can get me a dog. This story is about one cat in particular who has adopted us and just loves the attention he gets. I call him Yappy, because he is constantly talking to me and following me around. This is just a little story about him.
Yappy The Cat

Yappy the cat was sitting peacefully next to his human mom when he suddenly woke up out of a deep slumber. Yappy yawned and in the process while his mouth was open wide the sound of a meow came out bringing mom's attention to him. This is what he wanted. Automatically she reached over and scratched around his ears and jaws, his favorite place to be scratched. Yappy was glad when his mom picked him up and held him close and he was able sit comfortably in her arms. He turned to her face and let his cold wet nose touch hers and before she pulled away was able to lick her nose with his coarse tongue. Yappy purred contentedly until mom put him down. He didn't want to get down, because he liked to be held and petted. He tried to grab onto her sweater with his sharp claws to let her know he still wanted to be in her arms. Yappy meowed again in despair knowing his mom would not hold him anymore, at least for awhile.

Now Yappy was a smart cat, he knew if he kept mowing at her in his cute little squeak he used when he wanted something and rubbing his face against her knee as he jumped up that she'd get up and let him out of the door into the garage.

His favorite part of this process was running through moms legs. It was always a challenge to see if mom was going to step on him or not. He knew mom loved him and would rather trip over him than step on him. It was comical to see her almost fall at times when she wasn't thinking. Yappy would meow again as he lead the way to the garage door with his head held high and excited meows leading the way. When the door finally opens Yappy spends exactly five minutes out there getting a drink of water and a bite of food and doing his private business. Yappy has his own bowl out there and knows no other cats in the house shares this special bowl that is filled by his mom on a regular basis.

Now that it is cold out and winter is in full force, he doesn't want to spend a lot of time outside. He makes his way out of the garage door where the pet door is and spends time exploring the property making sure all is as it should be. He makes his way to the back door sniffing and looking for little creatures to chase. He goes up the few wood steps and peers into the house through the screen and the closed sliding glass door.

Yappy knows mom is in the chair in front of her computer. He meows again in his little excited tone and jumps up pulling on the screen just enough to let her know he is outside and wants in. Mom doesn't want Yappy to ruin the screen, so she gets up and opens up the door for Yappy to enter into the house. Yappy is so excited to see his mom, he yaps at her in his excited meow and jumps up letting her know he wants to be held. Mom knows just where to scratch behind his ears. He runs to her chair and lays down knowing he is going to be moved and this is fun. It gets him more attention. He playfully swats at her hand then licks it to let her know he loves her. She helps him move to the chair next to her and he looks at her with loving soulful eyes. He is now happy to sit quietly in the chair next to mom to get some well needed sleep, comforted by the fact that he has in fact trained his mom just the way he wants her.

The End
