Destiny's Closet - Meet The New Girl
Chapter 2

“Meet the New Girl”

The summer was almost over. Labor Day was

coming up fast. One day Destiny and Becca were

talking about school while they were playing on the

 swings at the church’s playground.

“Are you ready for school?” asked Destiny.

“Not yet,” said Becca. “We have to go shopping for all the stuff that I need.”

A car pulled up in the parking lot and a woman with a little girl got out.

“I wonder who that is?” asked Destiny. “I never saw them before.”

“They must be new,” said Becca. “Because, it’s almost time to go home.”

The teacher rang the bell for the children to come in. Recess was over. As they passed by the office, they looked on the inside to see what was going on. They saw the woman with the little girl.

“Do you think that she is coming here?” asked Destiny.

         “I think so,” said Becca.

“How do you know?” asked Destiny.

“Because her mother had some money in her hand,” Becca replied.

“Let’s see if she comes to our class,” said Destiny.

As the girls worked in their classroom, they watched the door to see if it would open.

“I hope that they hurry up with what they are doing,” said Becca.

“You know it is a process. They have to fill out a bunch of papers,” said Destiny.

“It would be nice to meet someone new. You think that we could share our secret about Jesus,” asked Becca.

“I don’t know,” said Destiny. “We will have to wait and see.”

“I bet she doesn’t know Jesus,” said Becca.

“How do you know?” asked Destiny.

“I think Jesus would have told us about her and when she was coming,” said Becca.

Destiny could hardly wait to get home so that she could find out what was going on. She wanted to tell Jesus about the new girl that came to the church summer camp. The more she thought about it, she realized that He would already know about it because He knows everything.

“Momma, do we have to make so many stops? I have to get home right away,” she said.

“What’s going on?” asked her Mom.

“I need to get home to spend some time in my room,” said Destiny.

“Ok, just one more stop,” said her mom.

Destiny’s mom knew all about the secret that Destiny and Becca had. She never said anything to them about it. But she had overheard them talking to Jesus. She even heard Him for herself. She told Becca’s mother about the experience. They were excited about the girls having a relationship with Jesus at such an early age. She often wondered why the girls had such a special relationship with Jesus. All she knew was that they were chosen for something great and she was not about to interfere.

As the car pulled into to the driveway, Destiny’s Mom could see that she was anxious to go.

“No running in the house, Destiny,” she said as she opened the front door.

Destiny started to run, but remembered the warning and started skipping quickly instead of running down the hall to her room.

“Slow down,” she heard Jesus say as she opened the closet door and sat in her chair.

“Jesus, guess what happened today,” said Destiny. “We had a new girl at the summer camp. Did you already know that? Becca and me were looking for her to come to our class today, but it was too late because she had to fill out all the papers and everything. She did not look happy. Do you know why?”

She stopped for a moment. Destiny had been talking so fast that she failed to realize that Jesus had not answered any of her questions. She always talked fast when she was excited about something.

“Jesus, are you here?”  Destiny asked.

“The little girl needs a friend,” said Jesus. “Her family moves around a lot.”

“Do you think that they will stay here for awhile?” she asked.

“I have a plan already worked out for them to stay,” Jesus said.

“I will talk to Becca tomorrow about making friends with her,” said Destiny.

“Both you and Becca are talking to me at the same time about the new girl,” said Jesus.

“Really?” asked Destiny. “Did you tell her the same thing that you told me?”

      “I did,” said Jesus.

“Ok. I will talk to you later tonight before I go to bed,” said Destiny.

Later that evening, Becca called to talk about plans for the next day.

“We have to get to camp a little early,” said Becca. “Jesus said that the new girl needs a friend and we are to help her.”

“I know,” said Destiny. “He told me the same thing. Wow isn’t that awesome how He can speak to both of us at the same time about the same thing. I used to think that we had to be together for us to hear the same thing.”

“Remember what your Grandmother said about Jesus being everywhere,” said Becca. “We’ll talk more tomorrow.

As Destiny prepared to go to sleep she remembered to ask Jesus something special. "Jesus, will you watch over the little girl in a special way tonight. Tell her about us and how we want to be her friends." said Destiny.

The next day both Destiny and Becca were up early and ready to get to summer camp. They always had fun at summer camp. There were lots of exciting things to do. But ever since they met Jesus in the closet, they talked to Him about everything.

As the children arrived, Becca and Destiny were standing at the door looking for the new girl. The bell rang and it was time to go to the classroom.

“What are we going to do?” asked Becca. “She is not here yet. Do you think that she is not coming back?

“Jesus said that he had plans for her, so she will come. Remember whatever He says happens,” said Destiny.

Later, Becca asked the teacher could she be excused to go to the bathroom. As she walked down the hall, she looked into the office. No one was there. On her way back to the classroom, she looked again.

“Did you see anything?" asked Destiny.

“No. The office was empty.” replied Becca.

“When we go to lunch, I’ll ask Grandmommy.” said Destiny.

After they finished eating their lunch, Destiny and Becca were on the way to the playground when they saw Destiny’s Grandmommy sitting in her office.

“Grandmommy, can me and Becca talk to you?” asked Destiny.

       “Sure you can,” said Grandmommy.

As a Pastor, Destiny’s grandmother always enjoyed her talks with the children. She realized that there was something special going on with Destiny and Becca. It was great to see and hear what God was doing with the two of them. Their relationship with Jesus was so inspirational that she would get great revelations, which she would sometimes preach to the congregation.

“What are you two up to today,” asked Grandmommy.

“Grandmommy, we saw a new girl come here yesterday. We were wondering if she is coming to summer camp?” asked Destiny.

“We want her to be in our class,” said Becca.

“They did come to register,” said Pastor Grandmommy.

       “What happened?” asked Destiny.

“They did not come back,” said Pastor Grandmommy.

“She has to come back,” said Becca. “It’s important.”

“Well I don’t know if they have the money,” said Grandmommy.

“Can she come for free?” asked Destiny.

Grandmommy sensed that there was something important going on with the girls. She knew that they would tell her what was going on eventually.

“Have you two been in your closets?” asked Grandmommy.

       “Yes,” they answered together.

Suddenly their eyes lit up and they both began to talk very fast. When they got started it was like a runaway train. If you did not get it at first, you would have to listen carefully to catch up.

“We talked to Jesus and He said that she needs a friend. She needs to stay here for awhile. It is important that we be her friend,” they said.

“Ok, girls. Calm down and speak slowly. Tell me what is going on,” said Grand mommy.

“Jesus said that they moved around a lot and she does not have a chance to make friends,” said Becca.

“He said that He was fixing it so that they could stay,” said Destiny. “Because she really needs a friend. He said that we could introduce her to Him.”

“Can you call and see if they want to come?” asked Becca. “They will come if you call.”

“Ok,” said Grandmommy. “But how will they pay if they do not have the money?”

“What about one of those ships that you put people on?” asked Becca.

“You mean a scholarship,” said Destiny.

“Ok, you two go outside and play while I see what I can do,” said Grandmommy.

Destiny and Becca had a habit of going to the restroom in the afternoon to see who was in the office and what was going on. Grandmommy would often catch them in the hall. Late in the afternoon as Becca was returning to the classroom, she peeped into the office and saw the lady and the little girl. She ran down the hall to the class to tell Destiny.

“They are here,” Becca said out of breath from running." You think that she will make it into the class before it is time to go home?”

“I hope so,” said Destiny. “If this doesn’t work out, we will have to have a conference talk with Jesus. Me, you, and Him together.”

Before she could say another word, the door opened and the little girl walked in with Grandmommy. Destiny and Becca looked at each other stretched their eyes wide and smiled.
