Another Angel Arrives

    Back many years ago at Christmas time, my brother Bill would dress as Santa and get in touch with the church and food banks to find out who was in need of food or toys or maybe a prescription that was needed.He was a Sailor since the age of fourteen years old. He had a hugh heart and the money would come from his pocket to supply all the needs.

    He would load his truck with everything from food and toys and start making his deliveries. This one cold winter Christmas Eve, he had his daughter dress up as an Elf to be his helper. It was cold and getting late but he had one more delivery to make but he just couldn"t seem to find the right address so they decided to stop at this little darkened house. There was no sign of Christmas at all but he could see a dim light, so he thought he would take a chance and knock on the door.

    To his surprise, a lady opened the door and she appeared to be sad and woren down. Santa asked about the family he was searching for but the family had moved far away. Santa being concerned started to talk to the lady, being so cold outside she asked if they wanted to step in. She explained that she couldn't offer them a tea or coffee because they had nothing in the house. There was no sign of a christmas tree and only candles lit the home. The lady pointed to her husband on the couch all covered up with blankets, he sounded weezey. There were three little children came to see who was there. They were so excited to see Santa and his Elf. They knew Santa couldn't deliver to them this year because their dad was so sick and out of work. Before long they were sent back to bed and snuggled down to keep warm. This broke my brother's heart as he thought back to his childhood and how hard times were. 

    My brother found out her husband needed his perscriptions but they had no money for it, he found out which drugstore his meds were at. He told the lady they had to go but they would return a little later.

    He called the owner of the drugstore and arranged to get the man's perscriptions. With the truck loaded with food and toys, a tree and decorations they headed back. The lady cried as they started to unload tons of food and toys for the children. They stayed and helped to set up the tree and decorate it. The man took his pills that he needed and the woman cried even harded as she thanked them for the much needed help. They never knew who Santa was or his little helperas she said she now believed in Santa Claus. Soon they were on their way to their home feeling good about this family and they knew it was no mistake going to that door that night.

    There was talk around town later that an Angel arrived at this home, known and dressed as Santa. The family was so thankful and wondered where he came from but not a word was ever spoken.

    My brother did this for several years and I will never forget what a big heart he had and how proud we were of him. He passed away a few years ago but this story sticks close in my heart.

     I love you and will always miss you my darling brother, you are forever in my heart.
