This story is about how God used me in a miracle ministry to bring a woman out of a coma. She was scheduled to be unplugged from life support. This happened while I was visiting a friend in the ICU. I witnessed the living God reunite the woman with her young teenage son.
I remember back in the middle 1990s when I was visiting a friend in the hospital in an intensive care unit who was near death.
The man had been a pillar in his church and was well respected by many. He had lived a long life and always used every opportunity that might come his way to talk about his Christian life.
I knew inside that if he passed, I would miss him, but while in his room praying with him, I felt the nearness of God's presence in the room, and it brought comfort to both me and him.
I discovered that another occupant in the Intensive care unit was a dying mother. In the waiting room, I overheard a young man whimpering over his mother, who was in a coma and was unresponsive at the time.
The Spirit of the LORD came upon me, and I felt compassion for them both, and being moved by this tremendous power of pure love, I tapped the young man on the shoulder. When he looked up, I asked him softly if I could sit with him, to which he sadly nodded with his head that would be ok.
I began letting the Lord use me to help build up this young man’s faith by sharing some ways that the Living God had used me to touch others.
I asked the Holy Spirit for guidance and asked the young man if I could pray with him, to which, again, he shook his head in agreement.
I remember my prayer like it was yesterday as I began my prayer asking God to please manifest himself in me, and in this prayer, I said, “God, I can feel this young man's compassion for his momma, and God, I can feel your compassion for him.”
I remember saying something like, “ Father, I just ask you to reach wherever this woman’s spirit is and to restore it to her body, and I went on to pray something like, “Father, I ask you to restore her body and heal whatever has been damaged so that she can be in her right mind and right bodily functions for food, drink, and more.”
I prayed, “Lord, please let this young boy and his mother have a few more years together because, you know, dear Lord, this young boy is not yet ready to be without his mom.” I remember closing my prayer by thanking the Lord for hearing it and walking out of the waiting room.
The next day, as I walked into the ICU department, the young man, his pastor, and a few others jumped when they saw me.
The young man smiled broadly and said, "Mister, I don’t know who you are, but your feet had not even left the hospital, as to what my mother came to herself, in her right mind, and wanting something to drink.
The young boy said, my mother has asked to meet you, but before you meet her, I feel led to tell you the whole story about my mother.
Preacher, several months ago, my mother had been involved in a terrible accident that left her in a coma. This happened in another state, and a few weeks ago, they transported her here to this hospital.
The young boy said, Preacher, today the doctors were going to unplug her life support because they felt that there was no hope for her to recover. After all, all tests ran on her indicated that if she ever did recover, she would have paraplegia with severe brain damage.
He said my mother is now sitting up in bed and very aware of what is happening around her, and she is like a new person.
He said Preacher, our whole family wants to thank you for your prayer, as he embraced me in a tight hug with tears running down his face as if he was hugging his mother.
I assured him that all I did was feel the compassion of our loving God toward him, and Jesus did all the healing.
Dear readers, I have many true stories like this one where God has used me in miracle ministry, and each time he does it, I feel like three acres of heaven saturate deep in my soul.
Beloved, there is an Almighty God who loves every one of us and is not willing for any to perish. Our God is special, and he deserves special.
