It's a local coffee shop. Sitting at a table is an observer of the unusual behavior of a couple at a nearby table.
What can the reader surmise from his observations?
They are "regulars " here. He usually arrives ahead of her by fifteen or twenty minutes.Every day they sit at the same table, a cozy round "table for two" next to the fireplace. He appears to be in his mid-fifties, while she is about eight or ten years his junior.They are a striking-looking pair, usually well-dressed in casual but classic attire.He is graying slightly, but with a very thick head of hair, showing not the least tendency towards balding. She is obviously meticulous about keeping regular appointments with her hairdresser, her short blonde hair streaked as if sun-dappled, with never a hair out of place. There appears to be little need for makeup,as her skin is clear and gently tanned, giving her a healthy glow.
