a story about the decline of Christianity as a world-effecting faith
when Christian write things like this:
In other words, until the Lord comes again to establish his Kingdom - and he is coming - there is work to do
do they mean that the Lord has not yet established His Kingdom? doesnt He say that the Kingdom of God is near at hand? doesnt He say that many of His own contempories would not die until they saw the Kingdom of God manifest?
this relates to the whole question of eschatology. although i am an evangelical Christian, i reject the doctrine of dispensationalism. i believe that Christ established His Kingdom at the Cross, that He took vengeance on the wicked with the destruction of Jerusalem and the burning of Rome, both around the same time of 70 AD, and that the millenial Kingdom mentioned in Revelation lasted from 70 - 1090 AD, or from 310 - 1453 AD. the crusades marked the beginning of the end of Christ's earthly Kingdom, when the Church chose to utilize carnal weapons of warfare to promote its agenda.
i also believe that Islam was a reform movement against the abuses of the Byzantine Church, similar to the Protestant Reformation against the Catholic Church.
i also believe that we live today in the period when Satan is unbound for a time, and when Christianity has been all but coopted into supporting the Jewish-Zionist supremacist agenda.

ps please consider the irony that the Western Church sent the Crusading armies at the request of the Eastern Church to defend it from the power of Islam, and those same armies ended up sacking Constantinople and all but destroying the capital of Eastern Christianity. is this not a perfect example of Christ's warning that he who lives by the sword dies by the sword?
