Happy Birthday To Me
Let us travel back into time to exactly 77 years(when it is 3;20 PM,)

It is now the 21 day of May, the year of 1930
in a Backwoods Coal mining Community of Eastland the familiar breathing of the final pains of childbirth his Arizona Rice. there came forth in her own bed at home ,a newborn girl
there is born a mite of a baby girl, who weighted a little more than a five pound bag filed with sugar,

The mother had become an old pro at giving birth ...the doctor old doc Barnes smiled as he handed this mite to it's momma.,after it was washed and clothed, where mighty yells come forth from this blue eyed blonde baby as she was telling the world "here i am and now .....what?"
yep this was old happenings to this little babies momma ,she had already had 11 of these

"dey ja vo all over again for the 12 time,.... well Matt. i guess we can stop now we have a half dozen of each,"
"Yep ,the squaller was letting the world know; she had arrived ....her name was Lois Virginia such a little cry baby, she cried as if; she knew she knew that the life ahead of her was going to be a rough one,

,Although unexpected by most of the family, here she is, in all her glory, red ,wrinkled and screaming her head off, As Matt picks her up his last baby daughter, he made a wrinkled grinning face at her first baby tantrum. saying in his soothingness tone, "" awww .....what is it poppas , little jennywren ?, there you are with your mouth all opened, tell me ...my sweet bird , what are you wishing to tell this old world, ?"

"I guess you know you almost didn't" make it ,little bird." Matt laughed as he wrapped hand-made receiving blanket around the teeny body of last baby of the family, .

..he laughed at her as she settled down, in the warmth and security of being in a tight safe feeling place at last, "if you had waited just a little longer, Miss Jenny wren you would not have made it, .....you old poppy would have been to old to even be here for you.. so welcome to the big old world.... MY sweet little bird,..... we will whup them if they make you cry, again,,

Mammy said "oh Matt, stop that talking to that little one......... she does not understand you.....as i was laid into momma's arms and placed in the most glorious familiar place in the whole world, at my mothers breast, where with momma;s help i found the right spot then ate like a little piggy , soon falling asleep,....just as i drifted off to sleep ... mom whispered into my ear ,,"welcome to the world, sweet baby Jenny.."...

It seemed that only yesterday, when the first thing i remember being on a back porch watching my brother Johnny drawing water from a well, he was singing as he swayed back and forth in his pulling motion, never loosing a beat to the song as he pulled at the rope, he filled a wash kettle..and then in one swoop he grabs up a chunky baby girl age four and said "Jennywren you cant get by that kettle" ,his voice sounding scary and warning now, "..burn .hot hot," he warned, "Hot, hot,"

i remember looking over his shoulder at the steaming kettle with water and i glanced at a sparks snapped at me while the fire under the pot flashed out at me, "Hot?"
yes Hot he said jenny said "uhhhhhh, hot."
another flash and jenny wren is moving to west Virginia riding in the back of a truck

" moving forever "she though in a confused manner,
she soon fell asleep in the bed of the chugging truck as they traveled northward, upon awakening, they now climb up a steep hill and there stood a house so big looked like a mansion, big pale gray ten room house with white trim and shutters,

"yes our home" .mom said,as if to reassure jenny
what a surprise awaited the little girl electricity ,she could not believe her eyes, when her brother twisted a knob on a brass round thing hanging from the ceiling and it almost scared her to death when it lit so brightly ,made black spots where ever she looked, scared her, but after she seen her brother was not afraid ,she soon accepted it as a 'wonder',

She looked at the water running from the faucet and could not get over it .... that they had running water right inside ..." inside of the house," she thought "no more drawing water form johnny,"she was so rich ,,,she felt as if she was a queen, with such luxuries,
running water and electricity, even a toilet at the end of the sidewalk,

"Ah, but wait radio wait ...now listen said casto her brother," she heard music and to see where it was coming from, a brown funny shaped wooden box , on a little table, jenny wren finally ventured close enough, she could see the little people inside....

She had peeked inside of the back of the radio and with her vivid imagination she seen the people in there playing music.".my ,they are such little people ....to fit in there "she thought, and told her brother Casto, said "No honey, they are playing music in Nashville and we hear it here,,,",
Jenny got excited and just started to cry "she had wanted to keep the little people ,she had imagined in her mind,,, then Casto showed her it was only 'lit up bulbs,' like the hanging light, only smaller,he assured her " no people lived in the box.".

Then out to the high front porch and here come the first train that Jenny had ever seen in her young life , This time total fear enveloped her, she screamed at the top of her lungs, and that is loud, when she seen the black monster, it is coming up the holler, she had no place to run, it made almost as much noise and she was making, she screamed and screamed ,so afraid,

poppa ran to her "What is it, ?..... What is the matter ?" all of her little body was one shiver , her little hand shook uncontrollable, all she could do could do was point at the monster "it is a booger, it is coming here to ,,,,, get me................oh poppa.....,",

"No no" soothed poppa hugging her close , as he sits down in his rocker ,caressing her shivering scared body, on the porch and he said " see there ..?.....we will watch it together, , see it is going to the coal mines to, get coal, ....it is not a booger, .. it is a train, it comes each evening to gather the coal cars, filled with coal from the miners working, the mines is about a half mile away,,,right up there in that holler,"
"it can't come up here ......can it poppa? !!!,can it?? whispered a scared little voice,

No child ,it has to have tracks to run on , i tell you what we will do,,,we will go and ride one day ,and i will show you myself , it is not to going to hurt you, not my baby wren, do not be afraid .. "poppa's hug could melt any little girl's fear plumb away..." thought Jenny wren as she watched the chugging noisy thing at the foot of the hillside , as she sat in wide eyed wonder , at all of the happenings about her,
coming soon
Jenny wren grows ------------------
