i was sittin' in my chair
when the phone rang

"hello"
yeah this is hell
will you accept a collect call?

from who?

think it's your son.

of course.

she said the charges
are never reversed.

ok.

it will cost you your life.

for a moment i stopped & i realized what she'd said.

ok.

"dad... you there"
of course i am.
he said damn i been shot.

ok
i'm on my way
it'll be ok

"dad"
this is my only call.

ok. on my way.

"dad"

yes son
can ya' get here soon?

on my way!

i showed up
as quick as i could
not as quick as i woulda liked

there he lay
there he stay
my son
lyin'
my son dyin'
tryin'
just tryin' ta' be alive
with all he had ta' give

i walked in
and there were two
standin' over him
i just looked at them

"what the hell's goin' on"
i ask
the light one said
ask him

i looked at the dark one
and i said
"what the..."

you the one he called?

yes.

"he's dyin' and goin ta' hell...
unless
you take his call"

didn't stop to think
it was said in a blink
of an eye
"why?"

'cause a debt is do...
it's up to you...

i looked at Death
i took a Breath
said
i'm over due
take me
not my son
let him be
to run
and play

Death said ok.

he took my hands and put them behind me
handcuffed
i stood

my son said
"dad"
i said
"son"
it'll be ok

as He took me away
nuthin' else for me to say
we made our way
to a long black hurse
i knew my life's curse
but it wasn't worse
then sein' my son
die

Death
looked at me
ask
can you see?

what?

just get in
you old man
let it be

i sat in the back
Death said don't look back

suddenly

i was in Heaven

Death looked at me
and said
see

GOD
always liked a sacrifice
