Are all writer's a little insane? Hummmmm? While sitting here happily typing away on my second Thriller/Horror. I suddenly stopped typing and sat quietly just starring at the pages. For some reason I needed to reread my work. As I read, I became quite astonished at the horror that had been penned upon the pages. I may have for just a second became a little fearful at the evil that had came from my mind. Are we as writer's a different breed. A family of the strange and odd. How easily we we can just leave reality and wonder the universe without being seen or heard. Do you as I do often think of your work in the strangest places. I mean your at work or in bed, maybe the bathroom, and suddenly your mind is working on the next chapter or revising the one before. Does a bad day get better because you just wisp your self away and talk to your characters awhile. I mean do not your imaginary characters sometimes make better company then some that are real. If you are writing comedy do you not find yourself laughing aloud sometimes as you work. Does your romance novels not make you dreamy and starry eyed longing for earlier years. Do we not all look at the world differently than others.? As I am sitting here writing this I am wondering if I am the only writer that is a little insane. Am I the only writer who looks at everything I see as a insert for another story. Hummmmmmmm? This was just a question I wanted to ask. Am I alone in this universe or is there a family of other writer's who feel as I do. Are we talented people who just like to express our selves, or are we really all just with a touch of insanity that makes us talented? Looking forward to your answers. You are not alone! All my life people have thought I am funny and maybe just a little weird; now that I spend most of the day writing it occurs to me that they are right! Great article and so true.
Yes we are and proud of it.I have put a lot of effort into being"crazy" and expect to get my moneys worth for it. When anyone asks me if I'm ok I repoly..."no and don't wanna be."The imagination is a wonderful place to frequent and I shall make many more trips> Nice to meet you Patrica.
I think all authors are a little crazy at times; I know I am to have written nearly 3,300 stories! LOL (I have no life. LOL) Very well penned, Patricia; brava!

To true Patricia. I think we do see the world a little differently at times. Although I have a friend who thinks there might be a collective consciousness that we tap into with an acute sensitivity. I for one just think we have to be a little nuts. Good article, and I for one concur with you.

Personally I am proud of my 'insanity';-)but being a 'writer' is a good cover lol. Seriously though I can relate to everything you said and am forever pulling my notebook out of my handbag in the middle of a supermarket because I've just seen something I could turn into a story. It's usually something insignificant but always gets my brain churning. Maybe we are a different breed, who knows?;-)

I can definitely relate. I guess that is one of the things that make writing such an enjoyable experience. It gives us all something wonderful to escape to. I just wish my imagination could spell as well as it invents. LOL You have a wonderful day.

LOL! You're not alone! I always fall head over heels for my romance heroes and every time I watch the news or listen to someone telling a story about something that happened to them I catch myself thinking "I can make a story out of that!"
And yes, my characters are far cooler than anyone I've ever met in reality.
