Okay, this is not a Moses and the burning bush type of story...but it is about "divine intervention of the mini-mini-type.....

The day began like any other, running from place to place, errands, appointments, shipping a book out, and I forgot to stop and get something to eat. I can miss a meal or ten...but..I'm always hungry, and if I don't eat or snack I am convinced that I'm on my way to the deathbed early... ho hum.  Finally got home, flipped the shoes off in two directions, peeled off the jeans, and T-shirt, and threw on the I love Lucy pj's... and footsies.. Brushed the teeth, and hair...and then I remembered!!!!!! I'm starving!!!!

Opened the fridge once....moved things around...ummmm...okay poured a cup of cold milk...shut the fridge.  Oops...open it again...look some more...and it's like the Old Woman in the Shoe...E M P T Y.... or at best.... FROZEN... so... debated about a PBJelly sandwich, but I don't like PBJ sandwiches... so.. ate a banana.  Don't even remember taking a bite...all I know is it disappeared in a flash.  All I could think of all day long was "animal cookies" ... you know the kind that they sell in that little box that looks like a circus cage.

I love plain cookies - sugar cookies - or with nuts...but no chocolate chips, etc.. but animal cookies are soooo good with milk.  There was no way I was going to dress again; head to the store and pick up a box of the yummies.  Man...I was so craving those little giraffes, lions, and hippo's... I like to eat a leg, then a tail, and save the head for last.... sometimes, I eat them in reverse.

My daughter works and doesn't get off til 9:30 at night, so I planned to call her and ask if she'd pick up a box of cookies for me...but I forgot!  I was busy working on my manuscript and just feeling like I was getting alot done, when I heard my tummy growl...just like one of those striped tigers in the box... hmmmm.... darn, I wish I had called her, but It was too late now. Maybe I'll have to get up and go to the kitchen and open the fridge again?

Around 10:15 p.m. there was a light tap on my bedroom door...and... there stood my darling daughter....in her tan pants, blackshirt, and black apron...hair down her waist...with a big smile....and she tossed me 3 boxes of animal cookies!!!!! then walked out the door.   I almost jumped out of bed and offered to do something wonderful for her...but...what the heck...

I asked her..."how did you know I was craving these cookies all day long?"    She laughed and said..."Mom...you are always craving some kind of cookie...and we got in a new shipment of assorted cookies and crackers today, so I decided to buy you a few."    I smiled and told her she was not only gorgeous...but she's brilliant just like her mom... as I ripped open the first box, and began sifting through all the little animals... First I found a broken monkey, so I just finished him off first.  I like to eat the messed up, broken, missing parts cookies first, and save the perfect ones for last!

A few minutes later my daughter reentered my room wearing almost the same outfit as I was wearing....she's so much like me in her old age...hehe...serves her right after all that teenage torture she put me through...  She said, "Mom, give me one of those cookies."  I just laughed and said... "Honey, I already ate one box, but I'll give you 3-4 of the broken ones in the next box."    She just shook her head and tossed her long blonde hair behind her shoulders, and walked out of the room ....talking under her breath..."You are so spoiled, and you eat too much sugar, and I cannot believe you already ate that whole box!... didn't even share."   Well... the way I look at it... possession is 100 percent mine....

Just think it's funny that she read my mind...because I hadn't said a word to her about animal cookies...and in fact, haven't even had one in at least a month!   I don't know what one calls this gift....but I still call it "divine intervention"...because I would have ended up getting up at midnight, pulled on sweats and slippers and headed to a 7-11 to buy a bag full of snacks!

Maybe this old age isn't so bad after all....hehe...

Just bought another box with the Saturday groc's....and decided to eat each one with more thought than ever before.... and...about the 3rd one, I completely forgot my intentions and started gobbling away...and then I realized...the head is always first anyway... then the legs and tail....hehe...

Two crumbled lions, 3 broken monkeys and a big thumbs up from me Linda. You have a way of writing that makes me feel at home. Thank you so much for sharing your gift with me..and the world.

I thoroughly approve of your method of eating them. And I understand why you would offer your daughter the broken parts. Have you considered that she may have also bought (and already consumed) 3 boxes for herself? Worse, she may be hoarding some while attempting to get you to share yours. Nevertheless, it was kind of her to buy them for you and remarkable that she KNEW you were craving them. Ah, the mother-daughter bond, how sweet!

It must be love, thats all I can say for her to think of what you were craving. I too love those little animal cookies and still do along with Arrowroot and DAD's Oatmeal cookies. Now you got me craving, lol.

Isn't it amazing how much better they taste from the circus boxes though? I hate the ones that come in packages and are marketed under a different name. They just don't taste the same. hee, hee...

I always find it interesting when I have been thinking of a particular song and all of the sudden one of my children in a different room will start singing the exact same line of the song that I am thinking right at that moment (and wasn't singing...).

My all time favorite story of "coincidences" like that happened when I was a teenager. My mom had made my Grandma's scrumptious apple cake for dessert and at the same moment my is sister, "Charlie" and I both started singing to the tune of Camptown Races, "This is Grandma's apple cake, doo-dah, doo-dah..."
