Today is a Red Letter Day:

As most of you know, I work from 12:30 AM till somewhere around 10:00 AM.  Every day, as I'm entering our neighborhood, there is a man walking along the road.  He's relatively short (I'm 6'4") and probably in his late 70's.  He walks with a perpetual scowl on his face.  I figure a guy like that has probably had a tough life, and has been pressed by the rigors of life, to be 'serious.'  In old age, 'serious' becomes a scowl.

It has been my goal for the past several months, to get the guy to respond to me.  Every day, as I drive by, I smile and wave.  Every day, he scowls back.  Today, he waved.

Okay, so it don't seem like much, but it means a lot to me.  My next goal is to get him to smile ... wish me luck.
