Fluff, Foolishness and Prayer

As I awaken to the backdrop and day, painted in cold , drab and dreary, here in New Mexico, where I now call home.
There remains as well a special cutting and acute pain as well this day hovering over the hub of my heart.
Yes, who indeed can allow such dramatic circumstances that parade by us this day in time to go unnoticed?

Actually many I think! I read often the cry of these that shriek, I'm tired of these serious sober commentaries, I want fluff!
Well, granted, I rest in an added measure of sobriety and somber verses others perhaps, I have been so my entire life, yet gee, if this is not a time to be serious, sober and thoughtful, then I guess I just don't understand.
Not understanding other folks however surprises me not either, for I always have toted this oddity about in my lifetime, differing often from the other folks so seemingly carefree, footloose and fancy free, of thought, mind and heart.
I merely find it difficult to pen frivolous words, while the lives of so many, stand in the balance this day. I stand torn as many in the country and world this day, bewildered and, perplexed by the thought of full scale war!

May I preface my next statement by stating, I stand not in a posture of quivering fear this day as many might suspect, given my antiwar stance, no, I just merely am betwixt and between somewhat, as many others as well.

I too believe there remain times, when it is necessary for a nation as well as an individual, to fight fire with fire! For it has been my personal experience that on occasions, a man understands nothing short of this form of communication basted in primitive, yet yes, primitive begins not to touch it in word nor description.

Yes, there remain many this day, twenty-four hours before the heaviest onslaught of bomb pounding begins, to supersede anything history has recorded prior, that merely are traipsing about doing their same old same old! Preferring to buffer such reality with our typical American and varied forms of recreation! Yes, the old Ostridge with his head firmly planted in the sand comes to mind, or the three monkeys who once lived long ago on the mantles of many Americans that by pose stated...hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil!

What does it take this day I ask, for American's to experience a brief moratorium in the arena of merriment and recreation? What warrants a sober day of contemplation and fasting of our play and fun I ask? Yes, many shall state perhaps that Rodney, you are just to serious! I fear my answer would be that some are not sober enough!

I must admit, I am perhaps too entangled in this notion of peace and basic happiness for all people of the globe, my personal happiness oddly enough seems to be somewhat as well mysteriously entangled somehow, and contingent somewhat on the global communities welfare I fear. Odd I know, but odd and eccentric have always traced my steps in life in shadowing fashion and form.

Would not today Americans perhaps be an excellent time in history unfolding, for sober reflection, contemplation, fasting and prayer? Oh I'm sorry, there I go frigging up, smearing, and muddying up the politically correct arena, by suggesting such a thing! Prayer you shout! Sorry folks, I forgot myself for a moment! Prayer, yes of course how silly of me!
afterall we require a viable and credible solution do we not?

Hmm, yes, I being raised in the fifties forgot myself for a moment, because we used to not consider such things as prayer, as foolish, irrelevant, or politically incorrect! May I just ask a simple question at this point? It's so typical of me and my childish ways and style of writing I admit, yes, throwing things in that really don't belong, or digressing a tad, but hell that's what America is all about right? I'm supposed to be able to express myself, correct?
Well anyway, here is the silly kid question, how come if God has become such an evil threat to this nation in so many ways, how come we just don't take the damn slogan off our coins that states 'In God we Trust"

Alas, I now sigh and am suddenly both stricken and stunned with the reality of what I have just set in word motion! Oh yes indeed their shall be some hate mail today! Odd is it not, that such a simple plea for prayer can incite those who claim to rest on the pinnacle of advanced, civilized and free? I remain a simple man this day folks, with a belief system and faith as well, I do not apologize for this splendid fact to any or all, for it simply remains me.

No, I speak little of my faith, though it reigns in importance in my life to be certain, but GEEZ these days if you just mention God, people treat you as if you has stated you were into Satanism! Sigh... I now laugh but you know its true ! Yes, many of the intellectual minds of today immediately dismiss a man's whole philosophy of thought, once they find out you have a belief system, or worse believe in God! One is often dismissed as having no viable nor merit bearing opinion upon such disclosures. I find it quizzical to be certain.

Folks, I suggest this only this day in time swept in darkness, that we merely one and all, take a moment ofsincere quiet thought and reflection this day, concerning what we are about to embark on as a people and nation, may we know the utter horror as we contemplate it, as well as the precious life it shall dismisses from our midst and presence. May we perhaps fast in our own individual ways, as well as pay tribute to humanity this day, by putting our merriment on the shelf, just for today.

For if we look real closely this day at history unfolding before our very eyes, I feel we shall see little that warrants a celebration, or frivolous words of heart spoken accompanied with happy faces parading. For the greeting we extend to one another today, should surely be colored in words more monumental and thought out, than "have a nice day"!
