The Old Dusty Golden Rule

Who was that I just heard snarl, hiss and spit, in response to my title?
Who I ask, could have such a reaction to a mere title?
Unless it would be those few ore many, that just don't want to play fair or be nice!

Yes, being raised in the simplicity of the fifties as my backdrop of time in childhood, I was raised to often hear the reasonable admonition Rodney....do unto others!
Well, we all know the rest, I assume anyway, well hell, on second thought, considering the world about us, perhaps we don't all know this gentle jewel in its entirety!
Ok then, the Golden rule is merely doing and treating others, in the same demonstrated fashion that we would like to be treated ourselves! There you have it!
I now clap the chalk dust off my hands in typical fashion resembling the grade school teachers of old.

Now, who could, I ask, possibly have a problem with this simplistic body of verbal budding innocence, mixed in profound I ask this day? Probably only those who don't like to be nice!
It remains man's deep disposition, I think, to be more prone to wanting this Golden rule thing, to work and be implemented in how others treat us indeed! Yet.....when it comes to how we treat others, well, we often are found wanting, are we not?

Interesting creatures we are indeed, we see clearly the validity and charm of this forgotten saying, and adore it's implementation, when we are on the receiving end, yet when it comes to how we address and treat others, we often hear not our Mothers gentle admonition echoing within the recesses and corridors of our hearts and conscience.

Many deem it a silly nursery rhyme saying! While I proclaim if utilized and implemented in sincerity, this could change the very complexion and landscape of time for this generation and the next.

My oh my, what an impact this little jewel could have upon us personally and globally had we the renewed courage to capture it in our hearts in revelation once more, revelation merely implicating and meaning no more than when the lights dawn and finally come on!

Some upon reading the title immediately snarl up their pinched faces, reflecting there hearts and shout, I know that! Who does he think he is, tossing such simplicity draped in dusty moth-eaten and old, at the threshold of my front door? Well, surely I need not point out that head knowledge is a completely differing animal than that of knowledge pinnacled in revelation and reform of heart!

Hey, come on, lets just admit it! We don't acknowledge anylonger, nor do most appear to live by this fair man's rule anylonger! Why I don't know! It doesn't get any easier to understand than that does it? Surely an added heap of simplicity, in order to expound, for purpose of clarification, could only muddy the water instead.

Alas...the good old golden rule! Do we remember indeed the care our mothers, parents and grandparents took, when explaining it to us as children for the first time, sensing how very sacred and vitally important they felt it to be, to accompany us through life?

What on earth is it concerning simplicity that just traipses on by us unnoticed I ask this day? For surely this one little motto when practiced faithfully, could replace half the books with similar themes to be certain! Yes, simplicity dressed as wisdom dances often unnoticed in our very midst!

Simple questions I ask this day, why are we rude to others, when we like them not to be rude to us? Why do we steal, when we hate to be the victim of such perversion and painted wrong? Why do we hear not others, when we want to be heard ourselves?
Oh yes, in my humble estimation, if we could once again etch and imprint this saying afresh and anew upon the hearts and minds of folk, I think it would paint us as a people kinder indeed.

Yes, it is a free country, and none need to adhere! It remains a decision of soul and heart, reserved for folk that want to grow in excellence and gentleness of spirit.
As far as I view it this day, from my side of the mountain, it could only enhance our beauty as people daily, and pave our path walked in painted gentleness stretched out.

No, there remains no law governing the virtue of this simple slogan demanding that we adhere, but perhaps there should be! Yes, a Golden Rule be nice law! Then again, if we require a law to remind us of such things, perhaps its too late anyway...
