Do you think visually? I find that the word and the image are indivisible in my mind and that's why I storyboard my novels first, using Googled images as scrap art.
I suppose the habit of storyboarding comes from my background as an advertising Creative Director (think Mad Men!).
It's interesting that the earliest tales were illuminated and illustrated. Maybe the high cost of printing images helped to drive a wedge between word and picture.
But I beleve we will see the two reunited in this new digital age. With eBooks, readers are on the brink of an exciting new age.
Egypt was of course, while developing writing, was also a highly visual civilization where word and image were rarely separated. Imagine the Book of the Dead without those eerie and intriguing vignettes of gods and the underworld.
For this reason, my novels, available in Kindle and paperbacks, are very visual to the reader.
For younger readers (and adults) I also have two fantasy adventure stories that include actual photos of Egyptian artefacts in the stories to enthrall and inform the reader (The Princess Who Lost Her Scroll of the Dead and Egypt Breakout - Soldiers of an Endless Night.
