Studies are showing a dramatic decrease in the amount of reading that children, especially preteens, are taking on these days. And who can blame them? Kids have so many more engaging entertainment options these days that a lot of us didn't have when we were growing up: the Internet, video games, and social media outlets, to name just a few.

When kids are little, it's easy. They love to read. They love it when parents read to them, and they'll even read the same books over and over again. But, when many kids reach about 11 or 12 years-old, something happens: reading for entertainment is suddenly not cool anymore.

But here's the problem, if a child's love for reading is not cemented by this important age, it may never become a substantial part of his or her life – especially if his or her parents aren't avid readers themselves.

With this mind, I'm sharing a list of 32 great books (for ages 10-12) that might help your kids make reading a bigger part of their lives.
