Interview with author Tim Davis

When you were a kid, did someone you love promise you that, “You can be anything you want to be, do anything you want to do, as long as you work hard and make it happen”? More importantly, did you believe them?

Tim Davis did. Raised in the projects by a loving, single mother, this statement (some might say this cliché) actually became a sort of mantra that drove him, and still drives him today, to be the best he can be.

These days Tim is a successful entrepreneur, speaker, and the co-author of a new book that caught the attention of the LA Books Examiner.

His book, co-written with Nick Thomas, is called Dude, Seriously: 40 Ways You are Sabotaging Career and How to Fix ‘em Before You Go Broke. And despite its humorous title, I believe this is the perfect book to kick off 2010 for all you salespeople out there still struggling in a tough economy that doesn’t promise to get much better in the new year.

What I like most about this book is its blend of humor and harshness as it points out all of the common mistakes today's salespeople make. This is not the typical business book with one core idea or metaphor fluffed out for 400 pages. Dude, Seriously is a short (less than 100 pages) and honest exploration of specific behaviors that hold us back from our true potential. Most importantly, the book offers practical strategies we can use to overcome them…and, dare I say it?...be anything we want to be, and do anything we want to do in business and in life.
