There are people in the world, who will do almost anything for money!  There are people in the world, who will do almost anything for power!  There are people in the world who will do almost anything for fame!  And, there are people in the world who will do anything for a laugh...and if they hurt someone...so what?  Negative humor is alive and well in the United States and around the world!

In 2008, the country is suffering from a big fat attitude problem, in my view!  What are the parents teaching their kids nowadays...to be ill-mannered and corrupt?  I haven't seen the local news in years, because it's the same old broken record...robberies; corruption; murders; rapes; DWI and isn't there any good news anymore?  I think this society is turning more and more negative as time goes on, and all this negativity rubs off on the children in society!

What's worse about all this negativity, is that some people in high places in the community, are being busted for DWI; corruption; and other crimes, etc.  There have been arrests of school administrators; judges and other high-profile officials in the community, which is a shame! 

I'll tell the reader how negative humor fits into this attitude problem all across the country.  We're seeing more and more put-down of others...just to get a laugh!  We're seeing more ethnic jokes...just to get a laugh!  We're seeing more dirty jokes...just to get a laugh!  We're seeing more teasing of others...just to get a laugh!  All this bad behavior is truly a big black eye for America!

The violence, injuries and murders at the school campuses a few years ago, was due, in part, to the teasing of others...just to get a laugh!  A student is teased so much...that he couldn't take it anymore...got a gun...and came back to the campus to get even!  A few young people lost their lives during this time, which is a shame!

Where are the parents in all this?  What are they teaching their kids...or are they teaching them at all?  It's not the teachers who have to teach the kids values and manners...it's the parents who have to do it!

Reguardless of the reason(s), most of us have been teased in school!  Being Hispanic, I remember when I was in school, and I was teased because I didn't speak or write the English language well, in which I had a terrible Spanish accent, etc.  Other kids would make fun of me...just to get a laugh!  It would irritate me so much, that I didn't want to go back to school!  Kids can be awful, and I was always reluctant to give an oral book report, because I knew kids would laugh at me!  I will never forget those awful days of hate!

If you're ever been put-down, by those who I refer to as the, "jokesters and the people of put-down" who enjoy getting a laugh at somebody else's expense...you'll know how awful it can sting!  I'm reminded of the comedian (or so he calls himself), who goes around the country, putting down and making fun of the disabled and the mentally ill,...just to get a laugh!  I find it astonishing, that there are people out there, who would find humor in all of this!

Where are we headed as a country and as a society if we allow this type of thing to happen?  Would you allow your children to see this comedian, who puts down the disabled and the mentally ill...just to get a laugh?  An accident or illness can happen to any of us in a matter of seconds and change our way of life forever!

I don't see anything funny or amusing about a person, who has suffered an accident or illness, and has to spend the rest of their lives in a wheelchair!

I don't seel anything funny or amusing about a person, who was born with a deformity.

I don't see anything funny or amusing about a person who has a speech impediment or hearing loss!

I don't see anything fully or amusing about a person who has suffered severe burns!

I think I made my point...

And regrettably...humor CAN and DOES play a part in all this, because there are those, who think that human suffering is amusing...as long as it is not happening to them and they are NOT doing the suffering, etc.  There are people, who I call "the little minds of the world," who this is the way they get their kicks!  A shallow mind indeed!  They don't realize it, but they're sick people!

But, is there a solution to this attitude problem all across the country?  Yes...and it lies with the parents!  Two of the most important words in the world are, "mutual-respect!"  And, parents have to teach their kids to respect others.  There can be NO teasing of others for humor or for any other reason!  Parents have to teach their kids to stay away from other negative kids, so they don't become negative themselves. 

Over the years, I've received hundreds of emails from people all over the world, and I think it would be fitting to share a couple with my readers.  The first one is from a woman named Kelly and she writes;

"Jerry...I like the fact that your webite promotes clean humor.  It's nice to meet other funny people, that you can be just as funny without that vile content."  Kelly

"Jer...thanks for the clean and positive website.  I have many shut-in or recovering friends, who treasure uplifting humor.  Humor is truly the best medicine for our pain...both physical and emotional.  I know I will be able to come to your site for a funny joke that is clean."   Maria

Negative and dirty humor is not acceptable to me!  A person doesn't have to be dirty to be funny.  And yes, there is a lot of negative humor out there, and it can sting if you're on the receiving end of it, etc. 

Many years ago, the senior President Bush said, "What we need is a kinder, gentler nation!"  What he was talking about, I believe, is what we are doing to each other as a People...and none of it is a laughing matter!
