It is said that women live longer than men, because they get all the emotion out of their systems...shed a few tears during their lifetime, which helps them to cope with the ups and downs of life, etc. On the other hand, men box up their feelings and emotions...and therefore, they could say hello to a stroke or a heart attack at a much younger age.
Psychologists are paid well, because they have to be good listeners...to listen to their patients, to try to get all that emotion out, that's affecting their lives. I've never liked to burden anyone with my problems and/or sob stories. That's where writing comes in...it allows me to tell my story...and I use it as a tool to get my emotions out, if need-be!
If I should go back in time, and think about an incident I would like to forget about...but I'm writing a piece about it...it can bring out the emotion in me. If I have to write about it for some reason, it can be therapeutic for me, that serves to release all that energy connected with the incident, etc. Everyone has their own way of coping!
"Was it only by dreaming or writing that I could find out what I thought." Joan Dideon
In the area of defending yourself with the use of writing...it usually starts out with a one or two page letter. If you go on to win in the matter...it can be quite healing and therapeutic for you! Everybody likes to win!
"All good writing is swimming under water and holding your breath." F. Scott Fitzgerald
Of the 110+ articles in my portfolio as of this writing (2/09) I think one of my most important articles is one entitled, "We're All Going to Die Sooner or Later." This piece was first written in early, 2007 and was posted on my directory and my writing site. It bombed at both places and there was not much interest in the piece. After about six months, I pulled the piece in both places.
About a year later, I re-wrote the piece and changed the title. The piece did better at both places, and it gave me a good feeling that I addressed such an important issue, and I've done it in an open and public way. All of us are going to have to address this issue sooner or later, etc.
The writer can do research on a piece, and the piece can be pretty mundane and ho-hum! But, put your imagination to work, and see what happens. The power of the word...add the imagination...and the writer can move mountains; change the course of a river; move the sun and the clouds and so forth.
This piece was about the 12th piece I wrote at the end of 2006, and it is the only piece of over 110 articles, that is totaly imagined, and is entitled, "Auto Racing: Ladies...Start Your Engines." I especially had fun naming all the women drivers such as Candy Barr; April Showers; Penny Arcade; Kitty Litter, etc. This pieced raced its way around the track and now occupies the #10 spot on the charts and has done well at both places. Because of the success with this piece, it has opened the door, to use my imagination with other pieces as well.
Using your imagination, can be quite full-filling and rewarding, especially if there's success at the other end. There's nothing more satisfying than to reach down into your soul, and come up with original ideas to make it all work, etc.
"If the desire to write is not accompanied by actual writing, then the desire must not be to write." Hugh Prather
In another piece I wrote that gave me great joy, is a piece entitled, "Diabetes On the Rise," and was written about four months after I started writing. I turned the piece into the directory, and the following morning, I was looking for it at the bottom of the list (hits/views) where they all start, and to my surprise...it was sitting at the top of the pile! This is the only piece (of 100+ articles), that debuted at number one...with over 200 hits overnight, and remained at number one for over four months, and remained in my top ten list for over two years! Amazing!

It has always been rewarding and therapeutic for me to get postive feedback on my articles. For example;
In the article I wrote entitled, "Ten Million American's Have Diabetes and Don't Know It," I mentioned in the piece, that researchers have found that cinnamon is an enemy of blood sugar, in which I received this email;
"Good write! Thanks for the scare and the helpful hints. I'll get some cinnamon right away." MG
In another piece I wrote entitled, "Creativity: Calisthenics For the Brain," I received this email;
"Jerry, thanks for the great tips! I feel like I'm already off to a terrific start this morning, with the simple act of reading this article." CB
And, still another email for the article entitled, "Making a Difference In People's Lives by Writing," the individual writes;
"Hello Jerry...your article on "Inspirational Quotes," does help me a lot, and it does make a difference in article-writing, like adding spice to a dish. There's pizzazz and impact, and makes the article more enjoyable and memorable to the reader." CJ
It is sure to give you a good, uplifting feeling, when you can help someone, through your writing, etc.
There's nothing that will be more therapeutic, rewarding, uplifting and/or a confidence-builder for the writer, than to see his or her articles published all over the Internet! At the end of 2008, over 80 of my articles have been published on more than 460 websites on the Internet. Learn more;

It's like a snowball rolling down the mountain...getting bigger and bigger! The bigger the snowball gets...the more confidence the writer gets in him or herself. A feel, good, feeling for sure!
