The year is 2009, and aliens from the planet Krouton, arrive at the Earth and make their first call back to Krouton; "Calling Master Control...this is the SV-2 calling; we've arrived at the planet called Earth...and we see NO signs of intelligent life...over..."

I've always liked to write captions, titles and dialog.  During my time in writing, I never thought I'd write an article with dialog in it...but after 127 articles and three years...here it is...

I wrote a screenplay back in the Stone Age, and
during that time, I managed to get it into several agencies including the William Morris Agency...but no cigar!  The script was also critiqued by Dr. Linda Seger, who is one of the nation's top script consultants.

But, after a few years, there's only so much patience and determination. It's like fishing...you have to get a bite once in a while, or you lose interest.  In screenwriting...it's the same thing...you have to get in the door once in a while, or you lose interest!  If you can't get in the door...you can't sell your script!   I'm not the fastest horse in the race, but I even understand that!

I thought the script was funny, and was entitled, The Not So Excellent Adventure, and was about three aliens, from the planet Krouton, who came to conduct an investigation of the Earth.  The script was about their adventures and miss-adventures while on the Earth...mostily miss-adventures!

Writing the script, gave me a chance to use fictional characters...while using real events that actually happened during that time.  So, the script was both fiction...and non-fiction because the events really happened...and the aliens gave their perspective to the Earth creatures, as they called them.  This was like seeing ourselves...through their eyes, etc.

After stumbling around the Earth for about a year, the aliens finally finished with their work, and reported back to Master Control, that they were leaving the Earth and headed home...and reported...

"Master Control...this is the SV-2 reporting...we have finished investigating this place called Earth...and we have found it to be filled with hate...a brutal, dangerous place; corrupt, and filled with every kind of senseless act including; murder; robbery; rape; arson; domestic violence; child/senior abuse; deceit; thieves; pick-pockets; adultery; embesslement; child molesters; drug addicts; winos; prostitutes; liars; fraud...animals consuming each other to survive, etc.  Other than that...this is a very nice place to visit...but we wouldn't want to live here!  We will be home soon...over and out!"

Oprah Wimpy: "The aliens are right...there is a lot of hate, selfishness, greed and miss-trust on the Earth!"

Frumpy:  "What's it like to live in the senior place, or as you call it, the Old Folks Home, Jer.?"

Jer: "It's different!  For three years, I lived in an apartment complex of mostly 20 to 40 years olds, with screaming children...so living here is different.  I live on the 5th floor on this complex and all of the people who live on this floor are over 80 years of age, so at 64, I feel like a bubble-gummer in this place! "

Miss Wimpy:  "You know guys...seniors all over the world ( in most countries), are respected and revered...but not, necessarily, in the United States!  Here, they are called names; abused (financially and physically, emotionally) by their own children; put out to pasture as being unproductive; warehoused in nursing homes and the list goes on and on... which is a big black eye for America!"

Jer:  "That's right, Miss Wimpy.  My ex-wife was a social worker for the state, the entire time we were together, and she dealt mostly with child/senior abuse cases.  The terrible stories she used to tell me about some of her cases, like one time a new-born child was found in a dumpster...and the stories of abuse were just awful.

My wife's own secretary's father was arrested because he sexually abused her secretary's kids...his own grand kids!  My wife had to go with the police to arrest her secretary's father...can you believe that?  Unbelievable!  I was appalled at some of the stories she would tell me!"

Frumpy:  "That's terrible!  I think it all stems from selfishness!  We live in a selfish world and society, and nobody can argue with that!  ME; ME and more ME!  Everyone seems to want everything THEIR way!  People today don't know what give and take means...they don't know the meaning of a balanced relationship.  Ever wonder why the divorce rate is so high?"

Miss Wimpy:   "We live is such a selfish, greedy and society of miss-trust...why would anyone want to live more than 75 or 80 years of age?"  There has to be a better place than the Earth!"

Frumpy:  "Yeah, dude...death is probably better than being abused by your own kids!  Now, that you're living in the Old Folks Home (as you call it), what sticks out in your mind, with respect to 'man's inhumanity toward man?' "

Jer: I lived through both Kennedy assasinations; the Martin Luther King assasination; Oklahoma City Virginia Tech; and the unthinkable 9/11 where thousands of people from all over the world lost their lives!

It makes me ashamed to be called a human being!

These are all examples of what the evil and twisted mind can do!  There has to be a better place than the Earth to live!"

Frumpy:  "Nobody knows what comes after death, because nobody has ever died and lived to talk about it!  What are human beings doing on Earth anyway?  What is our mission here?

Miss Wimpy:  "Nobody knows the answer to those questions!  Jer, do you believe in the Fountain of Youth?'

Jer: "Of course not...that's for dreamers!  We live in a young-oriented society and everybody wants to be young...or look young!  I saw one of those oldies rock and roll (doo-wop) shows the other day, and one of the fellas on the show, who is about 76 now, tried to look his best to look 30, as he was dressed up like a rocker of the 50's!  He looked ridiculous!  If you're 75 years old, you're 75 and nothing can change that fact!"

Frumpy:  "So, are you going to write War and Peace again, or is there an ending to this article, Jer?  What is the main theme of this article?  Is it the fact that there is a better place to go after a person dies than living on the Earth?"

Jer:  "I think that's close!

I don't think anyone likes the thought of dying...but I think there IS a better place than the Earth.  All of us will find out...AFTER we've crossed over the line!"

Because of humor in my life, I've always made friends easily...but not anymore!  When I lived at my last place (apartments) for over three years, I knew nobody.  I had more fear of the residents, than the people outside the complex.  It was a nice place, with a balcony over-looking the swimming pool and rose garden.  While living at the senior place for four months now, I  don't know many people and I have attended none of the functions, etc.

Miss Wimpy: "Boy, you must be a boring person, dude!"

Jer:  "Not boring...just smarter...the more people I have around me...the more problems I have around me.  I would rather be alone...than to be around another...and I repeat...around another selfish person!  I have zero-tolerance for a selfish person!"

Frumpy:  Well excu-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-e me!  I didn't know you were so-o-o-o-o-o fussy about the crowd you hung around with!

Jer:  "Don't take it personally, Frumpy!  There's one other thing that bothers me in life, and that is the fact, that some people have been dealt a terrible hand in life, and there is nothing anyone can do about it, and so I consider myself very lucky in life so far!  (Knock on wood!)

It was on Dateline (NBC) a few years ago, when I saw this piece.  It was about a little boy, who had this strange disease, that afflicts only about 100 people on the Earth.  These kids, with this disease which I can't remember what it's called, are born old-looking and have only a life-expectancy of about 15 years.  Most of these children born this way, will not reach their teens.

The kids look like munchkins...about four feet tall; they look about 70 years old when they are actually only 10 or 12 years old.  This looked like something out of Hollywood...but it's not!  It's real!  The show focused on this one little boy, who was 14 years old at the time.  His loving parents gave him the best life they could, because he and they knew the little boy didn't have long to live, etc.

In the senior center where I now live, all the people who live here...whether they be 65...or 70...or 75...or 80 years and beyond...have had their day in the sun, including myself, whether it be good or bad, etc.  But these kids, at such a young age, have never had their day in the sun, because they die at such a young age, etc.

Yes...there have been many events over the years of hate and otherwise...that have brought glassey-eyes to my face, and the story of this little boy has been one on them.  The little boy, died when he was 15 years of age, but before he died...he looked into the camera and, with a big smile on his face, he said, 'I can't wait to get to heaven!'"
