I like to tell pcople through my writing and otherwise, that I live in a sleepy one-horse town of Albuquerque, New Mexico, which has a population of about 500,000...including the horse.  Albuquerque is located about an hour south of Santa Fe, which is the capital of New Mexico.  Now, that we're finished with the geography lesson, we can go on...

Both women are from the southern part of the state...Diane Denish is from Hobbs, New Mexico...sometimes known as 'Little Texas,' and Susana Martinez is from Las Cruces, New Mexico, and is the District Attorney of that city.  There are about 10 years difference in age between them...with Diane Denish being about 62 years of age and Susana around 52 years of age.  Diane Denish is an anglo woman and Susana Martinez is a Hispanic woman. Both are relatively unknown in the northere part of the state where I live.

During the last poll conducted in October, 2010, Susana Martinez had a ten poing lead and has reached the magic number of more than 50%.  I think she will win the race, if she doesen't do anything stupid in the last three weeks of the campaign. 

As Lt. Governor for the last eight years under Governor Bill Richardson, Diane Denish is having trouble dis-accociating herself from the Governor and all the corruption that has happened in the state during the last four years.  The out-going lame duck governor has a pultry approval rating in his last few weeks at 33%, so all this has to hurt Diane Denish. 

Meanwhile, Susana Martinez is basking in the sun...just trying to be careful not to do or say anything wrong, that will hurt her in the final days of the election.  Over-all, it has been a pretty dirty campaign between the two...a lot of mud-slinging has gone on for several months.  But, as the dust settles...Susana Martinez is pulling away...

I started writing seriously in August, 2006, and I promised myself at that time, that I would never write about politics.  But, here I am, writing about politics, because I have to...the state of New Mexcio and other states and the country itself are in trouble.  Something has to be done, before we all fall into the ocean like California is on the verge of going, etc. 

At the age of 65 in 2010, I can't tell you how I loved the fighting spirit of the American's when they took back their country in the 1960's and 70's.  They were fighters back then...fighting for civil rights for everyone...not just the Blacks; Native American's; Hispanics; or for Women...the fight was for civil rights for ALL people of the Untied States.

Sadly, in 2010, I don't see that fight in the American people anymore...all I see is laziness, with a couch-potato mentality...Y-A-W-N it all away!  It's sad, because I think this country is in deeper trouble, than we were in the 60's and 70's.  And, who is the only one who can do anything about the direction of the country...the Ameircan people...can take back their country...just like they did back in the 60's and 70's!  But, it's going to take more than yawning to do it...it's going to take activism by the people of America! 

New Mexico, like many other states is in trouble...financially!  One reason why I think New Mexico is in trouble, is when Bill Richardson became governor many years ago, he repealed the grocery tax...and that was a good political move for HIM...but years later, the state of New Mexico is beginning to sink in the quick-sand, like so many other states, etc.

In a democracy, everyone has to pitch in a little, to keep the state or the country running...otherwise services will be cut and the state or country will go backrupt!  Will Bill Richardson repeal the grocery tax before he leaves office in a few weeks?  Of course not...that's one of his little feather in his cap!  He's not going to do anything to harm himself.

As in other states...jobs in the state is the #1 issue, and, as I said in another article, part of the problem with jobs in America is simple; Jobs and corporations are leaving America and it's up to the U.S. Congress to keep jobs in America!  But, in the long term for any state...the grocery tax has to be implemented, to try to help the state get back in the black. 

I'm voting for Susana Martinez, because I think she'll do it, to help bring more money to the state and stop the bleeding, etc.  When Bill Richardson was elected governor, he had high numbers at over 65%.  During his second term, his numbers plumeted...and are now at 33%, and I know the citizens of New Mexico can't wait for him to leave office.  Bill Richardson (can take Diane Denish with him), and will never be elected to another office...not even dog-catcher. 

I think that by getting back this grocery tax, the state can level off and make a come-back, and stop bleeding so much red ink, etc.

As of October 15th, Susana Martinez has widened her lead over Diane Denish and the numbers are as follows;

Susana Martinez (R) - 54%

Diane Dehish (D); 42% 

Undecided; 4%

UPDATE; Sunday October, 17th debate;

If I was scoring this debate, I would give the following grade numbers after the debate was over; (1 - 10)

Susana Martinez - 7

Diane Denish - 3 

Currently, down by 10 points in the election, Diana Denish would have had to win this debate decisively, and do really well, to gain on Susana Martinez  I don't think she did that.  I think Susana Martinez will pick up ground after this debate, and the debate win will help her to put out any last-minute charge done by Diane Denish. 

There was a lot of mud-slinging by both sides...but that's the politics of today...which is ashame!
