The $64,000 question;
Can a person suffer much pain during his or her lifetime...and still live a live of creativity; problem solving; and original ideas?
It would take years, but this question would finally be answered...at least in my case. Since I've suffered from so many headaches during my lifetime...why isn't my brain burned out? How can I create anything that makes sense to anyone else? How can I create anything...except a mess? I would like for a psychologist to see this, and answer all these questions.
When I met with a woman at the Social Security office, and she was looking at my record and she asked, "What happened in 1978? I had no idea what happened in 1978 or any other year in the old days, because it was a life of trying to stay on my feet and working when I could. She was probably referring to the low amount of income I had for that year.
I've suffered so much pain in my life, that I don't even remember a decade...I feel like I'm about 56 years old...and not 66 years old.
It all started out when I was eleven years old, and my family was attending a picnic up in the mountains, put on be my father's work place. During that time, me and some friends, were coming down a hill, near the picnic, when I had a fall and hurt my upper spine and neck area. Because it was never fixed...the medical situation that it created would get me later...and I paid for it for more than a decade of my life.
In the near-term and the far-term...that fall would cause me to have headaches; nose-bleeds; high-blood pressure; and horrible migraine headaches for a good part of my life. There were many years when I was near homeless, because I couldn't work. I likened the injury to a garden hose...when the water hose is crimped...the water shuts down or off. There is no circulation of water through the garden hose. This is what I suspect happened to my neck...circulation was cut off to the rest of the body causing high-blood pressure; nose-bleeds and headaches of the worst kind, etc.
At the age of nineteen, I nearly didn't get in the US Air Force, because my blood pressure was too high! During the physical, the Air Force people took me back to a little room, and I was to take a nap. When the nap was over, my blood pressure was taken again, and this time, it was low enough to get into the Air Force. All that anxiety had settled down. But, the worst was yet to come.
During my lifetime, I suffered from all the ordinary things that people suffer from; headaches; toothaches; ear ach; I passed a kidney stone in 1988 and so forth. But, the pain of the migraine headache, win them all. You see, the throbbing of the migraine headache, is tied to the heart...the faster the heart beats...the more intense the pain. The slower the heart beats...the less the pain. That's why the migraine sufferer has to lie down, to slow down the heart...otherwise the pain will increase with every heart-beat!
Migraines can last anywhere from 3 hours to 12 hours and 16 hours at a time. The attack is viscious and draining...because of the pounding on one side of the head...one eye usually shuts and dries from tears/water. The recovery from one migraine attack can last for days! For me, this went on for over a decade, with no relief in sight!
Because I've suffered from high-blood pressure for over 50 years of my life...and when I was younger, I thought I would never reach the age of 55. And, then I thought I would never reach the age of 60. And, then I thought I would never reach the age of 65. And, here I am at the age of 66 still hanging in there in 2011. But, everybody suffers from one type of pain or another.
At my worst, I was an anemic, weakling, who weighed in at 118 pounds; with blood-shot eyes; and looked like I was drunk all the time; and with a tint of yellow skin, that made me look like I had some kind of liver disease, etc. This was the worst time of my life and it lasted for over a decade!
"What happened in 1978?" the woman from Social Security asked. I was hanging on by a thread, and nearly homeless several times. Over 100 visits to the chiropractor and over ten years later...my looks had changed dramaically. At one time, I weighed about 210 pounds; my face was rosy; my eyes were back to normal; my skin was normal and I was strong and looked it! I was amazed at the difference, and so were others in my family and outside of my family. But, it took time...lots of time to get to this point.
During my long recovery, I think it was two main things that I had, that a doctor cannot prescribe or you can't get over-the-counter. The answers to my recovery; open mind and keeping a journal.
"An open mind leaves a chance for someone to drop a worthwhile thought in it." Charles Kettering
1) Open mind: I know better than anyone about a closed mind vs. an open mind because my father was as close mind as you can get. He had a closed mind for everything...especially medical. He never went to a doctor...complained all his life about being sice of one thing or another...and he died at age 81 belly-aching all the way to the grave.
He and I are so different. I take care of myself...and I said, I've suffered long enough. I get a physical exam every year, and take a blood test once or twice a year. I just had a visit with my doctor in early Febraury, 2011, and I had a blood test and she gave me an A- which I was happy about.
"I try to keep an open mind...but, it's not so open that my brains fall out." Harold Stone
2) Keeping a Journal: If you're like me, you can't remember yesterday. And, during all those years of recovery, I maintained a jounal, so I could go back in time how I was coming along. And yes, I was sitll suffering from migrains at the time...but they were less frequent and didn't last as long. We're talking about months later after I started chiropractic and backe 2...3 years or longer. As long as I maintained a journal, I could go back and see how I was coming along at any given point. All of it took time and patience. After all, my neck and upper spine had been screwed up when I was only a kid...it had to take time.
But, the question remains, "How can a person suffer so much pain (especially in the head) and still have the ability to be creative; solve problems; and get new and original ideas?
"The world is full of people who have never, since childhood, met an open door with an open mind." E.B. White
Fact; In 2001, I built my award-winning website, having never built a website before. At that time, because we are all new to the Internet, I had never seen a website before I built mine. Ten years later, and in 2011, I would put my website up against any other website (on the Internet) in the beginning category, because it was built with simple tools and with a simple mind.

Fact: In 2006, I stated writing seriously, as I posted my articles on an article directory. Since that time, over 100 of my articles have been published on more than 500 websites on the Internet.

Fact; In 2007, I joined Authors Den and to date, have posted over 235 articles in so many different topics. My article has been in the top ten in many different categories; many have been in the top 50 on the big board...and my best has reached #15. Many have been on the 'featured page.'

The question remains;
How can a brain-dead individual (like me) that has suffered so much pain in his life (in the head), construct a sentence that makes sense...much less 235 articles and an award-winning website?
