Constipation: Saying Hello To a Costly Enema:  This is by far the biggest surprise in 2011, and I still have to pinch myself that this piece is the one that has sitting where it is. 

At the age of 66 in 2011, I have never suffered from constipation (knock on wood), that is, until I was given some medication for diabetes (metformin)...and it turned my upsidedown, and I was taken to the emergency room by ambulance.  After my release, and about two weeks later, I thought about writing a piece about my ordeal in the emergency room, but I was reluctant to do so, because of the subject matter. 

I got into writing to help people, and what better to describe what happened to me that awful day.  So, I went with the project, and I thought at the time, the article wouldn't do that well in hits/views, maybe find the middle of the pack, etc.  Boy was I wrong! 

I wrote the piece in the summer of 2009, and for the next two years, I never saw the piece listed on the Top Ten page; the Top 50 page or the Featured Page.  This piece just quietly climed the ladder in hits/views and in the summer of 2010 (a year later), this piece climbed into the top ten list, and occupied the #9 spot!  I was astonished when I saw this! 

A years later, in the summer of 2011, this piece continues its journey of climbing the charts and now occupied the #2 spot, and now could challange for the lead!  This is unbelievable!  I have 274 articles at this writing (9/11) and after a two year journey, this piece reached the top and is ready to compete for the lead!  I am just astonished at what has happened here! 

Here's the Skinny On How I Lost 40 pounds;  If there was ever a dominant article in my portfolio, it's this one.  When I wrote it in late 2006, the title was different, and the piece was going nowhere.  After six months, the piece continued to stay at the bottom of the ocean, and did not show any life, and I had to do something.  I didn't think I could do more with the body of the article, so I focused on possible a title change. 

I was out surfing on the Internet one day, and I came across an idea for the change, to what it is now.  After the title change, the piece started moving upward in the list in hits/views, and after several months, it took the lead.  Since the title change, this piece has been a dominant piece, and has led the pack for over three years...at three different places, etc.  I thought it would never lose the lead, but it did. 

Making A Difference In People's Lives By Writing;  (#1 article)
This is the article that took the lead (hits/views) in May, 2010.  Imagine, this piece was written two years after the weight piece, and still managed to take the lead and pull away!  Amazing!  I think this piece has done well, because I placed about 7 links in the body of the article to other published articles.  I didn't put this article on this list, because I took chances with it, but because the reader might like to read a #1 article and how I formatted it.

The Negative Side of Humor;
I wrote this piece in early 2007, and I took a chance on it, because of the voice or apporach I gave it at the time.  It was the first time, I had written an article with that 'no-nonsence' and 'in your face' approach.  At the time, I didn't know if I should tone it down...or to go with it.  Because I have always taken chances, I went with it, and to my surprise, this piece made it all the way to the Top Ten at the directory of my Top 100 articles...this piece occupies the #23 spot;

U.S. Congress; The Best Little Whorehouse In Washington, D.C.;  Of my 274 articles to date, this is my favorite title.  I got the idea for the title from the movie starring Dolly Parton and others.  'The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.'  I took a chance with this title, and this piece has been in and out of the Top Ten List for months.  The piece was even in the Top 50 for awhile.  The funny thing about this piece, is I put it in the 'Horror' category...isn't that funny? 

The SpaMobile Has Arrived...beep...beep;  With a title like this, I had to take a chance with this article.  At the directory, where this article was initially posted, this piece took the lead in publisher views (those are views by a website owner), and was published on more than 30 directories.  Amazing!  In my top 100 articles at Authors Den, this piece occupies the #31 spot; 

Halloween Party; The Two-Headed Monster;
I took a chance with this piece, because I didn't think, at the time, that there would be much of an audience for a piece on Halloween, etc.  Boy, was I wrong!  This piece is my #1 piece, in that, it has been published the most times on more than 40 websites on the Internet!  Add to that, the fact, that this piece has been in and out of the top ten list; listed on the Top 50 articles; and a staple on the Featured Page for over two years!  Amazing! 

You Say Tomato; I Say Tomater;
This is a piece I took a chance with, because of the way it is formatted.  It is the only piece that is formatted this way, and I didn't know if it would work out this way, after trying about three different versions.  This piece debuted listed on the Featured Page at Authors Den, and has been a staple there for over 14 months.  The piece has been in and out of the Top Ten List and for the first time has climbed in the Top 50 List on September 30, 2011.

Passing a Kidney Stone 101 For Dummies: 
This is my second favorite title, and I took a chance with it, and it has paid off.  This piece has been in and out of the Top Ten, and was recently in the Top 50 articles.  Of my top 100 articles, this piece occupies the #16 spot. 

The English Language Is All Greek To Me;
Another of my favorite titles.  This piece is a spoof on the English language, and there a lot of word-lovers out there, and I could have been in the soup headed out of town, etc.  This piece was written in 1988, when I was taking the Writers Digest writing course.  I turned this piece in as my final paper, and Dr. McCollister, who was my writing instructor at the time, rejected it and I had to write another paper.  When I started writing seriously in 2006, I posted this piece, to see what the public would think.  About 100 articles are posted at the directory, and this piece climbed the ladder (hits/views) and occupied the #10 spot at one time.  In 2011, this piece occupies the #17 spot.  So much for the opinion of a writing instructor...

I've always thought that the title of a writing piece is the most important part of the piece.  The title must generate curiousity by the reader; it must be a short summary of what the piece is about; it must be short and consice;

I think a person has to take chances with their work (with common sense/whatever that is) and when you succeed...there's not a better felling...See Ya!
