I think, I'm like most Americans...as, I try to give to those in need, whenever I can. In good times, I give more...and in bad times, I give less.
Over the years, I have given to many different charities, and non-profit organizations, such as the American Red Cross; Tingley Hospital, a place which helps disabled children; two homeless shelters; the local PBS station; a couple of women's clubs, and many more.
In the year 2013, I am 68 years young, and when I was younger, I thought and dreamed like most American's that I would have a little house all paid for, and I would spend my Saturday mornings mowing the lawn in front of the house. It didn't didn't turn out that way at all. For, at the age of 60, I was homeless and stood in a soup line for over 6 weeks, and I wondered what had gone wrong, etc.
During the previous decade or so, I had been laid off from six jobs, and three of them closed right from under my feet. The ecomomy quickly soured, and many more millions suffered job losses over the next several years. I had a lot of company.
I Know What It's Like To Be Homeless
Swallowing My Pride While Standing In a Soupline
I know what it's like to be homeless; I know what it's like to lose SIX jobs; I know what it's lide to stand in a soup line at the age of 60; I know what it's like to be in the hospital for over 3 1/2 months...I've been there...I've done that. So, every time, I see somebody out in the streets begging for money, I try to give them what I can. And, I have given to the homeless shelters on a regular basis since the time I had been homeless myself.
Over all those years, with all the job layoffs, there were many lean years for me, so I couldn't give much. But, in 2013, things have been better for me, so I try to give what I can and as often as I can, etc. Being homeless at the age of 60, and standing in a soupline left an impression...it couldn't happen in America! You wanna bet? I've been there...I've done that...
I've always believed all my life, that there is always somebody in worse shape than I was. And, there was no better example than, when I suffered a stroke in May, 2012. I spent a month in the hospital, and it was here, that I saw so many other people so much more devistated than I was! I was fortunate that the stroke was of the mild variety, and was a glancing blow. I could have been a lot worse, and/or could have disabled me or taken my life, etc. I was one of the lucky ones.
While in the hospital, I got to see and meet a lot of people who got hit worse than me, and for that I will always be eternally grateful. Some people had been paralyzed on one side or the other; on their top half; or their bottom half; some people had gone blind; others had lost the use of their hands and feet...and it was just awful how people came out of their stroke.
I don't know what it is about giving...but, I thnk people out there know what I've talking about! I''s such a great feeling to help the less forturate...somebody who is worse off than yourself. The feeling cannot be described!
My biggest worry in 2013, is the solvancy of Social Security, or will it bite the dust, leaving millions in dispair. I worry that the check will not be there every month. Maybe, I'll get through it some way...Younger have their own worries about Social Security...I live off Social Security and a small pension. The money worries are always around. So, in January, 2013, I came up with an idea, that maybe I could make a little extra monty. It would be from home on the computer. The idea revolves around the eStore concept, which has been around for many years. Only this time, the idea will be a eShopping Mall concept.
As I framed this business over the last month, I knew there would have to be a certain amount of giving worked into a contract and/or agreement to make it all work. I want to have a way to give back, a portion of the profits and give to charity, etc. This project will not be done, unless, I can find a way to give to the needy, and to help charities with their work, etc.
Six of the main pages are up and running, and all of is is self-explanitory, and the reader is invited to come along and take a look. I think the foundation has been set on this project, and now there is a lot of work involved to make it all worl. The reader can go to the following link to get started. On this page, there about ten more links, that will take you all aound the sites, and explain what's going on. I think I can make it work, it will take time, patience and I don't know how much money to get the idea off the ground. Part of the ticket price will go to charity.
On this page, you'll actually see the School of Hard Knocks, which is a part of the Learning Center, which is part of the Shopping Mall. I don't want to confuse the reader. The reader will find everything on this page, to learn about the entire project. I think this would be a great wat to supplement Social Security and give to charity at the same time. At 68, I don't think I've entered the Age of the Old...just yet, so it's now or never. If I want to do something like this, it has to be NOW...before I get any older!
Over the years, I've tried to give what I can, and going out of this Earth, I plan to give as well, because I am an organ donor. I could never have my body wasted in some hole behing the VA Hospital...this way, I'm putting my body to work to help the needy on the way out.
