For our friends and neighbors around the world, who may not be familiar with this word, I will describe it for them;

bartering; (description); trade by exchange of commodities, rather than the use of money; 

I started putting this project together in January, 2013, and during the past few months, I had never given any thought to bartering until recently.  And, then I thought to myself, 'how can I use bartering?'  I didn't know at the time, but I thought I would look into it. 

The project involved charging the public a small fee to see my work.  (Go ballistic here!).  Anyway, I think I can make this project work, but, we will find out soon enough.  Five pages are already up and running, and the reader can go take a look and decide for himself or herself.

I could never try anything like this, unless my articles were getting the recognition to support this risk.  It wasn't until March, 2012, that about 95 articles were featured all over Authors Den.  Needless to say, I was amazed to see this happen...and, at the time, I knew it wouldn't last.  The pages shown, is pretty much self-explanitory, and is quite ease to understand.

I...like most writers, I've given away my writing pieces over several years, but that may come to a halt in the near future.  A couple of weeks after I thought of the idea of bartering, I tried to find out how I could use it.  A few days later, I came up with two ideas, that could be pretty expensive for me with this project, unless I tried to lower costs.  I came up with two areas, in which, I could use bartering;

Critiquing my articles by professionals; At the end of 2012, and after 6 years of writing and 370 articles on hand, I decided to take a TIME OUT, and go through every article and polish it, and re-write it, if necessary.  This would be a massive job, and I figured it would take me all of 2013.  I have already gone through about 10 articles, and they have been improved quite a bit, etc.  After seeing the improvement of these articles, I decided I would not go forward with this project, unless ALL my articles are gone over and polished, etc. 

When I thought of the bartering possibility, I thought I might be able to barter with a writing website, to have it done professionally.  But, to do this, would certainly cost me an arm and a leg, so maybe bartering could be the answer.  I could at least try, and what I could offer, could be entising to the other side, etc.  I don't know, I have never bartered before. 

IDEA:  For every articles critiqued, and in exchange... I could place a a small banner ad on each page of the article critiqued.  If the company doing the critiquing would like to do them all, that would mean over 1150 pages of banner ads, etc.  That would make for a lot of advertising and promotion for the company doing the critiquing, etc. 

Marketing; (Books; mini-posters, etc.)  In school, I was not a marketing major.  Let's be clear...I was a girl-watching major!  And now, at the age of 68 in 2013, I would be considered a 'dirty old man' major. 

In marketing, it would amount to about the same thing, only this time, it would be like a link-exchange.  The marketing company company would place a small banner or link in their newsletters, promo pieces in exchange for the small banner ads I mentioned in the pages of the articles.  The owners can pick and choose the articles, they would like to see the ads placed on. 

LInk Exchanges between websites, would be considered a form of bartering; You scratch my back...and, I'll scratch yours...Members of organizations, who exchange connections, would probably be the same thing...called networking, etc.

Fee/cost of ticket; In August, 2012, I had never had all my articles printed out, so I thought it was time to do it.  The job would be to much for my little sissy printer, so I asked the girls at the local copy shop to do it for me.  The copy shop is located about 4 blocks away, and the girls got started on a Monday mornint, and would copy out the articles in between customers, etc.  By Friday of that week, they called me and told me the articles were ready to be picked up.  When I went to pick up the articles, I was amazed to see s stack of paper around a foot high.  The total of 1150 copies and the cost was $101.00.  I wasn't shocked, because I knew it was going to cost me an arm and a leg. 

For the reader of this piece, picture a stack of 1150 sheets of paper stacked in front of you.  How long will it take you read all of it?  You are surely not going to read it all in one sitting, etc.  It's going to take you a long time to read this mess...over several weeks.  And, that's why I came up with the fee schedule..of $1.50 for an all day ticket.  This way, the reader doesn't stay on the computer too long. I think $1.50 for an all-day ticket is fair, and the visitor will benefit greatly, if he or she uses uses this in a organized and positive manner. 

We all know that working on a computer for a long time, can cause medical lumps and bumps such as vision problems; carpel-tunnel and so forth.  If I stay on the machine too long, I have problems with the right side of my neck and near the rib cage on the right side.  So, I try to limit my time on the computer for a long period of time.  By doing this, it has worked out for me in recent months.  So, I know there is not anyone, who is going to go through all this material in one sitting...

Business Plan;  As I write this piece in April, 2013, I am working on a business plan, to describe how all this will work, and I hape it will be ready by Labor Day of 2013.  Since I have to go through all the articles and polish them, I hope to be seeing the end of this ordeal by Labor Day as well. 

I think a person, without a resume, to show where he or she as been, would be crazy to attempt this and make it successful.  Fortunately, I have the resume to attempt it.

If I put down every comment on my website and my work, I could write a book, so I have to just show a few...

VIP Very Important People; (Appreciation Gallery)  And, the visitor's ARE the most treasued people in my life...because without the visitor, I would be a bown of oatmeal...

As I said earlier, 95 of my articles were featured at Authors Den in March, 2012, and since that time, there have been over 40 of my articles dot the AD Top 100 List for which I am very proud and grateful.  NOTE; The reader has to scroll down the page to see the entries...

You know something...all this bartering stuff might work out, after all...

At present, I have a book on bartering do in...which is entitled; 'Let's Trade' a book about bartering by Nancy Loewen.  I should know more about bartering after I read this book.
