I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and for those of you around the country and the world, who may not be familiar with Albuquerque, I will try to put it on the map for you.

Albuquerque in a sleepy one horse town, of about 500,000 residents located in central New Mexico, and prides itself in offering our visitors a number of amenities such as electricity; running water and indoor facilities. 

Albuquerque is located in the Rio Grande Valley, and on the west side of town are the three ever-present, and hopefully dead volcanoes; and on the east side of the river are the incredible Sandia Mountain, which rise to a heighth of 10,600 feet above sea level and support the longest tramway system in North America. 

Kirtland A.F.B. is located on the southeast quandrant of Albuquerque, and President Obummer has landed there many times since he has been the Emporer.  When I was working for a living and not retired, our company was located on the west side of Kirtland AFB, and our technicians would go to Kirtland to service and do checks on Air Force One and Two. I've seen Air Force One from a distance, but I've never seen it close-up.  

There are two National Labs here in the state; Los Alamos Scientific Lab is located up the street about an hour; and Sandia National Lab (Energy Dept.), is located on Kirtland AFB. Manzano Base is a nuclear storage facility, and is also located on Kirtland AFB.   The Albuquerque airport is also located in the southeast heights.  So, there is a lot of federal hardware around here.   

Albuquerque has 62 Neighborhood Associations, and I have done several mailings in my Raising Awarness campaign to inform people about what crosses my path as to the latest news about Kirtland.   Things around here have been rather quiet, and that bothers me.  When Bill Richardson was governor, he used to fight with Kirtland all the time.  When Susan Martinez took office after Bill Richardson left office, she sent a kissy-kissy letter to the Air Force Secretary in Washington...and seemed to abandone the cause.  She seems to be more interested in her 'rising star' that the residents

If Susana Martinez (governor) lived in the southeast heights of Albuquerque, and not in her ivory tower in Santa Fe, her attitude would be different.   

The 'leak' was on one of the underground fuel storage tanks, located on the north side of the east/west runway, near the VA Medical Center, and I've seen three numbers as to the amount of this 'leak.'  24 million gallons is the number that stands out.  I don't believe anyone at Kirtland AFB, and I think this is a major scandal, and long-time cover-up. 

As far as the radiation is concerned...this is a sketchy issue, as it is new with the facts.  Dave Logan, who is an environment laywer, mails out a newsletter every month, and in it this past month, and a few details about the handling of nuculear waste.  He is the director of the watch-dog group 'Citizen Action' and radio-active waste is supposed to be handled in a certain way, according to EPA rules and regulations, and that's were we are right now, so I will not comment on anything else. 

Letter to the Editor;  From the beginning, there was no intention of writing a letter to the Editor.  All I wanted out of this, was a one or two page summary, but I thought at the time I started on the piece, that I couldn't do it.  Because it involved over three years; about 16 newspaper articles...I didn't think anyone could do it.  So, all I could do is to give it a try.  So, I got started, and I had about two pages of notes.  Writing over and over again, the piece was starting to look like something resembling an article...

Writing and re-writing, I wrote this piece about six times, and FINALLY it looked like something that was readable and understandable, etc.  After the piece was finished, is when I thought the piece should be seen by the general public.  But, how would I do that?  A Letter to the Editor came to mind.  The piece shown below, is the final version of the summary of this matter, and is entitled;

Kirtland A.F.B. Fuel Spill

"Why is it...that when the President of the United States gets threatened, the Secret Service and The F.B.I. act immediatly.  But, whan the ordinary citizen on Main Street get threatened by their own government, the authorities in government just 'sit on their hands' and 'look the other way.'  Why is that?  The ordinary citizen is just as important as the President...

For over 40 years, now, I've read the Albuquerque Journal every day, and I had never heard of the story of the  so-called fuell 'leak' at Kirtland A.F.B. I've lived in the southeast heights for over seven years now, and I have never heard of the Kirtland AFB fuel spill. 

It was in the summer of 2010, that I read the first newspaper article on the subject in the Albuquerque Journal.  Therefore...this letter serves as My Two-Cents on the matter...for whatever it's worth.  I live about one mile from ground zero, which, to my understanding, is located between the VA Medical Center and Bullhead Park. 

What in the world, would Kirtland AFB have done to incurr over $200 million dollars in clean-up costs?  There had to be someone asleep at the wheel, and all this looks like negligence to me with a splash of cover-up and a scandal for sure, in my view.

The Kirtland AFB commander is nothing more than the 'fox guarding the chicken coop,' in this matter, and probably doesn't answer to anybody, but to the Air Force Secretary in Washington, D.C.  And, that's where the problem lies.  Because the Kirtland commander answers to nobody, the foot-dragging in this matter will continue, until we have all perished from the earth...and, that's the way Kirtland wants it. 

To allow the Kirtland AFB commander to be the 'fox guarding the chicken coop,' is a disgrace...as the neighbors continue to be threatened.  Therefore, I ask the following $64,000 questions;

- Where is the (stealth) governor in all this?
- Where is the (stealth) Mayor of Albuquerque in all this?
- Where is the (stealth) U.S. Attorney in all this?
- Where are the (stealth) County Commissioners in all this?
- Where are the (stealth) federal judges in all this?
- Where are the (stealth) City Councillors in all this?
- Where is the (stealth) County Manager is all this?
- Where is the (stealth) NM Attorney General in all this?
- Where are the (stealth) Delegation of New Mexico members in all this?
- Don't the citizens of Albuquerque have a right to be protected from their own government?

Albuquerque has seven federal judges, and since 2010, I have advocated that a federal judge take over the responsibility of this jet fuel spill, so that everyone reports to the judge...before we all find ourselves in the soup...
